The Track

Challenging and great fun to drive, the track has been used by many top race teams for private testing. Llandow was a wartime airfield and the circuit was constructed using runways and perimeter roads in the 1960's. It hosted major national race meetings until September 1976. It drew in huge crowds and was a very popular with competitors due to its good prize money and fun layout. The circuit has since been used for MSA Sprints and testing.

Set amid glorious countryside in the Vale of Glamorgan and is about 40 minutes past Bristol and easily accessible from the M4, the circuit is very smooth, having been resurfaced in 2001 and has a challenging mix of corners in its one-mile length.

Are we all getting sucked in to PC thinking to feel grateful for a 'loud' track day at 105db.

Sorry that's definately not loud, and easily broken by many modern (granted quicker) production cars.

Is there any proper track in the UK that does an open limit trackday?????????????????

I have a very close contact with the owners of Llandow, dont be too surprised to find that they dont actually check the noise levels of cars
BTW i went to combe the other week and got through there 'strict' 100db limit at 102
I may pop down to this day

Been there a couple of times. No sign of a noise meter anywhere. The adjacent kart track seems to make more noise than the main track anyway. Facilities are basic but the track is good fun

when i drove it it seemed like a kart track anyway! that was a couple of years ago.

the new surface was VERY green and ate my tyres

i'm sure its rubbered in now tho...not particularly stimulating i'm affraid, but ANY TVR track action has my vote

Went and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Mechsympathy, what vehicle were you in, a caterham or a scoob?

I was in the blue/silver stripe 7 and had an absolutely fantastic time. No queueing, 135 track miles (at a mile a lap), 1 spin and 1 puncture.

What were you in?

So it was a good day then?
Was gonna pop down to watch but got a bit sidetracked and the weather turned later so didnt bother
So did many people miss the braking point for the 'bus stop' and go straight through?

Oh

The rain didn't last long, but most people went home. Which left the track empty for those that stayed. I only did one session with the roof on

So did many people miss the braking point for the 'bus stop' and go straight through?

I saw a couple of people do that, including myself when it took a bit longer to get past a scooby who didn't want to let me through

Was in the yellow ZS 180, with the three year old little boy who loved your car, along with the "banging" mini and the "cracking" Honda...

Like you say, no queues - It was a shame for motorsport events that the day was under subscribed, but I wasn't complaining as we got plenty of track time. I managed just under 100 miles so not as much as you, but I did use pretty much 40 quids worth of fuel.

All in all, a cracking day, and the weather was much better than it should have been!
