Earlier this year i went on a "M3 Experience" at rockhingham race way. As I'm only an 18 year old poor student, my chance to purchase my dream supercars are far off at the moment to say the least so this kind of thing is the closest i'm gonna get for a while

Overall the experience was great and very memorable, the pre event breifing went through the basics of driving a perfromance car on a circuit, performed by an ex race driver (apologies for not remembering his name) and then followed by 20 minutes in car with an instructor whos purely there as a guide and to help you improve - no rev restrictions on this course Although traction control is kept on, this doesen't spoil it in anyway as the M3 has masses of grip anyway. No doubt the more experienced drivers would've wanted this turned off tho

This is followed by a hot lap driven by the instructor, with the traction control off, and a debriefing session where you have a card handed to you with marks awarded for various aspects of your driving (out of a 100). Considering i drive a lil clio and i got better marks than a guy there who actually owned a M3, i was pretty pleased with myself. Overall a amazing day and i'd recommend it to anyone who doesen't have access to a performance car of their own (Rockingham do offer other experiences)

Heres some pics and a few small vids of other drivers:

You do have to register but it only takes a few seconds and i'm sure its worth it

Note the row of CSL's that were there for testing, very tasty

I went on an M3 and M3 CSL day at Rockingham in March/April time, it was totally free, I have no idea how I got the invite but there you go!

Basically I the day was set up to demonstrate how good the M3 CSL was over the Std M3 (problems selling the CSL???), our session was Breifing in the morning, taken round the track by instructor slowly, into the pits, jump out then got 2hours where we could just jump in any car and drive as fast as we wanted round the track for 3/4 laps! back in the pits, get out and wait for the next car!

As I had no real interest in the M3/M3CSL, I tried the 3 options, std m3, CSL with std m3 tires, CSL with cut slicks..... After that I just jumped in any car that was spare, as alot of people were waiting for the CSL all the time the Std m3's were easy to get into!

I occasionally got lucky and got in a CSL but I wasn't too bothered!

I reckon I got a good 40-45 laps and it was all free and I also got some free instruction with it!

They are impresive cars but I think I will stick with the Boxster....

Having owned two standard E46 M3's I can tell you that in standard spec they are a rubbish track day car - the brakes are a total joke - if you push on they fade to nothing in a couple of laps.
I still own one as they are great for the road where they are designed to be.
