Can anyone tell me where I could get some competative track day insurance.

I am currently insured with Liverpool Victoria, although they tell me they no longer cover these days.

Thanks.

I was about to post a question on this subject also.

I am taking my Tamora to the Oulton Park TVRCC day on Saturday and have decided to insure for the first time. All previous track days have been in my Corrado which is a) not worth very much and b) a lot less of a handful than the TVR (particularly if it is wet).

My main policy was arranged via work and they would not help.

I was told by another track day organiser that the best people for single event insurance are an outfit called Competition Car Insurance (0115 941 5255) and I have taken out £15k of cover with them for £152 (there is a £3k excess). This didn't seem too bad to me.

The policy document arrived today and I now see that there is an exclusion for engine and transmission damage. Most of the track day accidents I have seen at Oulton in the past have been front end shunts (coming out of Lodge and Cascades) and I would have thought that there would be a high likelihood of engine damage if that happened.

I am of course not planning to need the policy but this now does not seem like such a good deal. I would be interested to know if anyone knows of alternatives for the future.

I insure my Atom through AON Classic. My fully comp policy covers 3000 miles p.a. with an XS of £100 for a premium of £490 ish with the car kept in a locked garage. This is for a 50 year old living right in Central London with the car valued at £20k. This also includes Trackday insurance for an additional premium of £25 per trackday which has to be approved in advance and the XS goes up to £2k for the day. Also you should have had track experience and ideally training (but going out on track with an experienced driver counts as training, so no problem there). Might be worth investigating changing your work insurer or offering to pay for it yourself and have salary in lieu.

There is a BIG difference between competitive track days and normal track days. Are you sure you're after competitive track day insurance. i.e. timed or racing?

LV will cover non-competitive without any problems.

I'm there tomorrow, insured with Sunninghills. They cover ARDS and ATDO member's event as part of the TVR cover - the TVRCC are members of the ATDO.

Cheers,

Andy.

Well, I spoke to them yesterday and they said they no longer do.

I did explain it was not timed/racing but they still insisted they did not cover them.
