Nurburgring this weekend (7-8 August)

Who's out there this weekend? I'll be there in a Mitsubishi Evo VIII 260.

You would be surprised at just how dry and empty the track is at 0800! The best laps of the day are had then before all the lunatics arrive. Not that I'm not a bit looney myself...

I akmost understeered a Corvette C5 clean off the track at modest speed at Hocheichen going out early a few years ago. Now I rarely head out before 10am.

Almost doesn't count. Of course it depends on the weather what the track is like at opening. Lately we have been very lucky.

The first few hours are usually the best fo me, and I often head home either at the first closure or by 11:00.

Ha! I have a short video (nowhere to host) that could show you how 'almost' it was! All four wheels were on a pretty narrow strip of dewy grass. Not fun.

If it's dry on one of the mornings I might take an early look round.
