Just checked the prices - £325

Very tempted though... is Silverstone worth as much two trackdays anywhere else?

It's only that much with GoldTrack - limited number so more track time = higher per person price, plus it keeps the riff-raff away!

We're definitely more expensive but I'm worth it. I also promise to do my utmost to ensure there are no chavs on the day. At all.

I'm getting asked so often this year - how come your day costs £x when I can go to the same track with XYZ track club for £x minus many zillions. Then they go, spend the day with chavs and queue up all day - then they complain to me. Which is nice.

I got 15 emails of complaint about a day on Brands GP which wasn't even our day. Most educational!

Melindi, Thanks for the reassurance. I have a friend/colleague with a Tuscan who is considering coming along but is concerned about the Chav factor. What steps are you taking to try to manage this? It might help me tip him over the edge.

Also (anyone) any tips on where to find reasonably priced track day insurance? I've already requested a quote from the Goldtrack-referred insurer. Yes, I will trawl the forums as I know it's been asked many times before...

Well one has sneaked in and he is still looking for a purple helmet

Don, I got track insurance with CCC for my last trackday (on the Griff). I'll see if I can find their details.
In the mean time have a look on the trackday forum, I started a thread on the topic there.
Will be good to see you again, and the new car too.

Thanks Dusty, will look the insurance thread up and look forward to seeing you and your Griff ripping it up out there - still can't quite believe you found a Griff better than mine in the end, but we didn't take the rejection personally. Really.

"The chav factor"

That is just top! I nearly snorted my coffee over the keyboard. I've given the management of chavs some serious thought and apart from the obvious (detection and culling of those clad in Burberry, gold chains, hoopy ear rings, mis-spelt tatoos and rings spelling DAD) I shall use the usual criteria.

Generally speaking we limit stuff to those who have as much respect for everyone elses machinery as they do their own. This obviously cuts out those with extensive toy cupboards and an attitude that says "I'm so rich I don't give a **** about anyone else.". Those guys are much harded to spot on booking than chavs but so far so good.

I will however be conducting further research with the respected study resource www.chavscum.co.uk

I saw a 'chav' on a Goldtrack day. Little fella, with a strange accent, mincing about in the paddock cascading pearls of wisdom, then (laugh) he gets in this ancient old bucket of a 968Cs and wobbles about getting in everyone's way.... I gave chase (trying to avoid the debris falling off the Weissach horror) and he nipped back into the pits as the CSL started to munch his chav toush.

I reckon he has the name Meli or something tattoeed on his (dragged) knuckles....

Anyone know who he is?

any more places left on this - I have tried getting on to the goldtrack site to no avail.

I can't wait to wear my newly painted "burberry" crash helmet!

Here's some desk research for the Silverstone newbies like me:
www.jimbocam.com/silverstone/v2.html

Any other video laps out there for download? Preferably with at least some of the right lines...

A wide range of "alternative" lines will be available from my car-cam footage after the 17th...

Howdy folks. Just to let you know that the Dunlop Race Academy final 3 will be at Siverstone on Tuesday the 17th (see www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=42&t=115233 )
But unless something disastrous happens to one of the 3 of them, I won`t be there!

We had to go around in the midst of a trackday at Bruntingthorpe for the first elimination round too. The 3 at Silverstone will take the MSA test so I guess that the trackday will be 'closed' whilst they 'go head to head', I`m still not sure if that`s a 3 car race, winner takes all or just best lap time wins.... we`ll see!
