Respectable trackday lap time for Silverstone GP Arena.

Just wondering what trackday laptimes are achieveable for road legal cars on the new GP circuit.
And yes I know timing is not allowed but times can be had from video footage after the event.
Done 3 days there now and am totally hooked.

When I did a bit of checking a few weeks back I found a 5th gear clip of Plato in a Noble doing something like a 2.20 which was said to be a production car record and a guy I know with an Atom 300 doing a 2.30 which seemed pretty sharp

I'm sure others will be able to offer better guidance - as always track conditions, car, tyres and driver ability offer a lot of variables but I sense "respectable" (your phrase) is 2.45 and below with 2.30 sharp and sub 2.30 very sharp indeed

Out of all my video footage I only got 1 clear lap timed @ 2.32 so pretty pleased.
Presumably the quickest road cars are going to be the likes of Porsche GT3/Ferraris etc?
Anyone got actual times that they have done?

The "Whats a good laptime?" question is idiotic if you don't state what vehicle you are driving. A 2.32 could be the greatest lap ever or atrociously bad. Unfortunately we'll never know unless you tell us what you drive.

I think that car isnt production:-) Road Legal Maybe but then so is the Radical.

It has road tax, MOT, insurance, 4 speaker cd, and carpet. Not too bad around town either.
Unfortunateley it still has a heavy live axle flopping around on leaf springs.
But yes it is modified with 4.8L rover V8 and weighs 970kg.

You're on the same sort of pace as the qualifying times for Last year's Porsche club championship (964s, 993s and 968s). The GT3 challenge cars were a fair bit quicker. You can find all the times for those and lots of others, including the Britcar 24 hrs, at this link:

That must be around three times the power to weight ratio of a standard MGB GT V8

and up there with a 996 GT2 maybe?

That list of BritCar times is excellent - seems my original ranges were not too far off

The new surface from Brooklands to Copse appears to have made quite a difference to lap times so far this year. Times for Elise Trophy were as fast as 2:28.69 (Rob Boston, new to the series for 2012) and 2:23.551 for Lotus Cup UK (Adrian Hall in an Exige S1). I've only managed 2:47 in an Elise S2, two up.

I can confirm that, it's very quick indeed. So is the driver. But I have to say it's not the MGBV8 that classic buffs have in mind. Despite the carpets and radio, it's as hardcore as it can get really. Faster than me though....
