I plan to be there with my M12 - hope its not too noisy!

Do you know of the track is open all day (apart from lunch)? Also, do I need a suit or not (have helmet)?

Cheers.

I think all circuits seem to open around 7-30am and close about 5:30-6:00ish
I dont think you will need the suit - just the crash helmet.

Goodwood to far for me to go but have a good day anyway!

Fantastic...(Any chance of a passenger ride? The M12 is on my must have list.) I'll be there in the blue Caterham SV with a silver stripe.

You don't need a suit, but you do need covered arms and legs.

· A suitable car! Please be sure to check for any car restrictions in the event detail boxes on our website

· Wear suitable clothes – you must have covered arms and legs and suitable shoes

· Helmet. If you need to hire one, make sure you reserve one in advance

· Proof that all passengers are over the age of 17yrs if applicable

Noise Limit

105db ¾ max revs at 50cm OR 98db ¾ max revs at 50cm. Check individual event details in “events” section of website.

Everyone wishing to drive a car must be wearing a wristband visible to the pit-lane Marshall. Second drivers are allowed to drive, after attending a briefing and being given a wristband. Please appreciate that this does take time and the sooner you arrive the sooner it will be done. We cannot accept responsibility for any delay late arrivals may experience in getting on track.

At 8.45am, the briefing will start in paddock.

Vehicles are measured for noise as they go onto the track for the first time by the pit-lane marshals. Driver and all passengers MUST wear helmets.

Sure Bill, but let me get some laps in first - haven't driven Goodwood for yonks, and will be only second track day in the Noble so don't want to embarrass! :-)

PS: am also using the day to test the M12 wing-on and wing-off - so will be fitting and unfitting accordingly!

sorry - a bit slow off the mark to respond but can i add my name to the list of hopeful passengers? I am trying to be there in my caterham which normally puts in a half decent time but is a tad noisy. The limit is actually 98dB not 105dB as stated above.

From previous experience at Goodwood - truly great circuit but remember that 98dB is very very quiet - my old 996 with factory fitted sports exhaust did not pass and I really do not think that this was loud. I think you will find that it is 98bD at 3/4 of max revs.

I was told that the Noble is 96/97dB so should be fine?!

I know I'm fine on the noise front, as I've only got a lowly 140 bhp k-series.

Beej, what colour is your 7?

It looks like it's going to be a scorcher:

actually the whole 98dB versus 105db (loud days) at Goodwood is a bit misleading. Sure they won't let you out on the cicuit if you breach the static test but even my caterham gets through that ok.. its the bl**dy noise monitors round the circuit that are hooked up to the council offices where some jobsworth without a trace of soul gets bitchy if the limits are breached by a fraction of a decibel. The drive by limits are much, much lower. The marshalls then have to close the cicuit down to allow the cumulative noise levels to return to an acceptable average.

So blame the residents (what residents?).

Weird how its a working airfield though but being flown over in a Piper Cherokee at 100feet doesn't seem to matter?

'course, I'm biased.

I`m picking up my new Chimaera 500 that morning from Fernies so not that far away, if i go home the scenic route . I may have to call in and get a noise test done find out if i need extra silencing before we have a day there in september. The Wedge has never failed but has measured 96 - 98 several times.

I was at Goodwood yesterday (along with DustyC) and we were given 15 minute sessions which weren't really long enough (one warm up, about 6 laps, then a cool down). Also there were only 10 cars allowed on track at a time, which is good as you hardly see another car.

Be warned, though - most static tests are at 4,500rpm - Goodwood was at 5,250rpm! I nromally sail through noise tests but was at the limit at 98dB yesterday!

Hola! Good to meet you on Saturday. Shame I didn't get a passenger ride, but I was pretty busy driving my own car or queueing. I did 150 miles on track, using 10 gallons of fuel Not bad for a 140bhp k series.

Hank, good piccies, I'll mail you later if that's ok. The stoppages were due to the Skyline finding itself in the gravel, in spite of the driver aids, and I think the red caterham with the gold nose band hit the tyre wall just after St Mary's which caused the big stoppage in the PM.

and the noise levels (aaaarghhhh)! they kept dropping a 10 minute wait on us to get the average noise level down to an acceptable level. So lots of stoppages that weren't really anyone's fault.

However, I still can't figure out...

1. why they didn't actually let us out on the circuit until 10.00am - thats a wasted hour?
2. why drop a noise stoppage on us just before lunch?
3. why with the natural stoppages caused for recovering the scooby, skyline and the poor guy in the red caterham it was still necessary to impose noise stoppages
4. why not allow the session to continue after recovery (why bring us to the back of the queue)?
5. why wait until the very last car was off the circuit before letting the next session out?

small things (and certainly not enough to spoil the day) but perhaps some room for improvement?

Last run of the day when the noise police had finally buggered off I got to give the old dear full beans through madgwick. So thats peak revs in top into no name and peak revs in top on Lavant straight. Wahoooo!

BTW.. nice Vanquish!
Mind you on unbalanced front tyres my forearms are still aching from the vibromassage!

At one point in the morning I was ready to jack it in and go home because of the queues. I'm firkin glad I didn't cos the afternoon seemed to flow much better for some reason in spite of them having to clear the track.

BTW I'm billh with the oil temp query on Blatchat, good to meet you on Saturday.
