So the GP circuit is the way to go then.

Will need to get some more information on the static and drive by noise levels. Which I don’t think is going to be too simple.

The information for each track is in the public domain.

Here's Brands Hatch, for example:

https://car.msvtrackdays.com/Circuits/Brands-Hatch

All MSV tracks are on the same website.
Snetterton is:

https://car.msvtrackdays.com/Circuits/Snetterton

What noise levels under test conditions your car emits are the issue here.

The only way to make sure is to go to a track and have it tested using their equipment and techniques.
If you risk it and fail on the day you will have a wasted fee and a wasted day

There is drive-by at Snetterton, and a Huracan will set it off (my R8 v10 with the same engine did)

That’s interesting, I’m assuming that was in sports mode?

I was at Snetterton earlier this year and there was a guy in a Huracan. He got on track so must have passed the static test but I think he was struggling with the drive-by as he seemed to come in and talk to the marshalls a couple of times but I don’t know for sure if it was noise.

You will have no chance at Bedford. Silverstone is drive-by only and something like 105db so will be fine - there is always loud stuff there, so will be a good option. Donnington is louder (98db drive by) than Snetterton, doesn’t have really long straights but a cracking track.

I took my Huracan on track a few times. Mainly in Europe. It lasted three laps at Donny then got kicked off because of noise. Standard exhaust. Race or standard mode, made no difference. Bedford would be a complete waste of time. Id try to find a noisy day somewhere.

Snetterton drive by limit is 92dB, very similar to most of the MSV tracks.

I would recommend having a look at gold track - they run lower numbers (hence more expensive cars), often higher noise limits and are very well run.

I know Donington run quite a few noisy days, which would be a good circuit for a car like a Huracan

Edit: They're going one in a couple of weeks - https://www.goldtrack.co.uk/track-days/donington-p...

Thanks for that, useful information.
Would not be able to do the upcoming one but at least I know what to look out for.

The thing that surprises me is that I’ve driven a cayman s with a sports exhaust and that met the regs and although the V10 is a nice sound I don’t feel it’s so loud.

Maybe my hearing is getting jaded.

Another option to consider might be having some down-turned piping made for the exhausts - ugly, but very useful for getting past drive-by noise limits.

Depending which exhaust your car has it might be a few minutes work to fit them.

e.g. on a 991 GT3

I remember a geezer in a Porsche 911 GT3 failing the static test at Bedford.
The reason given by the testers was that the induction noise was too close to the test equipment, so added to the exhaust noise they were detecting.

I have clamp on cans for my TVR.They knock about 5 dB off.

I tracked a V10 plus R8, V12VS and 570s at Bedford previously, with all of them I had to short shift past the noise sensors to avoid any issues. There are 4 around the track and easy enough to spot them so if you’re not going balls out you should be ok . The good thing is there’s no noise sensor down the long back straight so you can really gun it down there think I hit 165mph in the McLaren…it’s a flat and featureless track but really long and you can certainly explore the cars handling without getting into too much bother.
