I see Misha is off to do time attack in Australia. Some of the comments have been brutal by the Australians over the crashes

Why not just correct him as you know who it is.

Link? I only had a look at Instagram but all the comments were gushing. Including one that he should be in F1 rolleyes

I saw that the new electronic warning system with LED panels is up and running now (not sure if it’s fully operational)… should be a good step in the right direction to improve TF safety.

The lights were up when I was there last few times. They are much more obvious, but still 'some' drivers (and it always seems to be the 'faster' ones) fail to spot the first one or two yellows...

I just returned from Germany last night after a trip to the Nürburgring that started last Wednesday. We were a group of 15 guys with five cars (e92 M3, F80 M3, 340i, 330i, and my Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio) and five drivers.

This was my second trip to the Nürburgring; I went last year and did a few laps in the BMWs.

Thursday:
We couldn’t hit the track because one of the cars had an ABS sensor fault. Fortunately, RingToys got us on the ramp, and it was fixed.

Friday:
I incorrectly assumed the track wouldn’t be busy since Germany was playing in the Euros and there was a live viewing at T13. TF was open from 17:30 in the NLS layout, which was great. However, there were massive queues to get in even at 16:00, with cars backed up down the DH up to the mini roundabout. Once on the track, I was a bit nervous about other drivers since some D-plate cars were flying down the track. A few cars even ignored the new LED yellow flags, which wasn’t fun.

Saturday:
We had the all-day NLS layout. I thought it would be busy, but when we hit the track at 16:00, it was surprisingly quiet. Drivers were decent, overtaking only when I signaled it was safe. I managed to take some decent racing lines and completed four laps before realizing I was getting too confident and decided to stop. Lots of British drivers were going for it, which surprised me since a mistake would mean a long day. Plenty of British cars around, though many were quite loud with pops and bangs. Misha was there in a green Morgan; I went out right after he finished. Overall, the vibe was odd with many people decked out in full gear, with Insta360 cameras on poles and lots of GoPro setups. Everyone seemed to be there for social media.

Sunday:
The track was closed for several hours in the morning. After checking out of the Airbnb, we aimed to do two laps before heading home. A UK driver in a 340i spun out on the first corner at Tiergarten, and I had to swerve to avoid him. I found him in the car park later – a young guy, around 23, who had done a few hours on Assetto Corsa. He turned up in Germany with budget Accelera tires and decided to do his first lap fast and in manual mode.

Overall, it was a great trip, and we all got back safely. However, I’m questioning whether I’d go again for a TF session. There were more grumpy people in the car park (mainly French, it seemed) and the UK lads weren’t very chatty. We did meet one friendly guy from Dorset who came in a 720s and needed some tools to fix his wing. My car is a Cat N rebuild project, and I don’t want to risk it being written off by someone trying to be a track hero in a souped-up Golf.
