Nope from Roberts own words.
I know that the staff have been whittled down over the last few months and the fleet has stopped from today being rentals but looks like they are not returning.
Bit of a shame, always seemed like a 'good guy' who had a genuine passion for the cars and for driving. Have to say though owning a fleet of track cars open for any spanner with a driving licence to walk in, rent and then wipe down any barrier on the circuit they like holds 0 appeal to me, be interesting to see as a hotelier whether he keeps the residency side of Apex going. Yes, I have a deal of respect for Robert. It also surprises me little that he's eventually returned to the US. Nothing in that implies anything about him or Germany, just that that's his home.
I think it was death by numerous cuts for Apex. They lost the taxi gig, but carried on with the rentals, but are possibly a bit too small to cover overheads easily. With inflation, especially wages, I imagine it's been the final straw.

So Apex is pretty much being wound up...that's a shame for the employees. Always thought it was a tough area to break into as RSR seem to have that mkt sown up given their huge fleet and long client list. I had a taxi lap in the Apex GT2RS MR driven by David Pittard...unforgettable experience.

I bet!A friend somehow managed to get Pittard in his car instructing for a session at DN in May. He was a decent driver anyway, but was really flying. This just 2 or 3 weeks before Pittard won the NLS 24hr in the Frikadelli Ferrari. At the time, he didn;t even know if he had a drive, he reckoned.
Not sure if this is the right thread but does anyone know the confirmed date for Car-freitag in 2024? I know that good Friday next year in Germany is Friday 29 Mar 2024 but does that always coincide with the nurburgring dates?
We had a fabulous 3 days last April and would love to do it again.
Thanks.

Never understood the obsession with going to Car Freitag...roads absolutely gridlocked for miles what a waste of time!
I've never been, but everything I've seen from various photos and videos looks like a collection of people who are there to be seen, rather than to drive. It looks like a giant McDonald's car park.
I turned up the day after one year on business rather than pleasure the road from the village down to the entrance was absolute carnage with fold up chairs beer and BBQ stuff just dumped and left. God knows what the main viewing areas were like. It looked like the aftermath of a festival!
I have mentioned this in this thread before but I don't think even our esteemed self appointed ring legends actually knew the answer... When did this phenomenon begin? It's certainly something from the last 6/7 years no?
Only info I can really find:
https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carfreitag
Looks like a general event around the country with just one of a few meeting points being the Nurburgring? It was certainly not a thing going back years.
Probably would make a decent time to visit if not going on track it's certainly a spectacle if nothing else.

I was there over Easter in 2011, it was absolute carnage aswell, every road in the region was more like a parking. We only drove for the first hour or two in the morning, then spectaded the circus the rest of the day, Friday of course the worst. I guess its not better nowdays i recommend renting an mtb and doing a lap around the outside of the track, you reach some very cool viewing spots along the ride.

Karfreitag has been a thing for ages, I remember it from at least ten years ago, and krallicious was warning about it on here in 2011I have mentioned this in this thread before but I don't think even our esteemed self appointed ring legends actually knew the answer...
