I've booked Thursday 31st August and Friday 1st September with Destination Nurburgring. Hope to see some of you there.
I'll be there in the Golf for all the DN events in 2023 As I'll be replacing the Golf with an R8 V10 in 2024, which will follow a similar development path as the Golf, but to a higher standard, could I possibly ask for a passenger lap in the R8 at the Ring?
I've driven one on track in the UK but am keen to experience it on the ring.
I'll happily take you out for a lap in the Golf as a thank you. If that is a thanks, I'm not sure everyone would think it was...

Sure, of course. It will be my pleasure. I've driven one on track in the UK but am keen to experience it on the ring.

I think if you are reasonably confident on track then a DN day will be fine. That said you may not get the value from having the freedom of the circuit if you are still learning lines.
I’ve done lots of TFs and I think one DN. Definitely faster driving standard on DN.
The other thing is that you will not be insured on TF days (appreciate there is a debate to be had there but for most people that would be true) and you can insure with DN.

If you bin it on a trackday do you still have to pay for barrier repairs?
Yes.I don't remember this being the case years ago, I always thought the TDO was insured for that sort of things, but these days its in their disclaimer.
By chance, I discussed this recently with a TDO organiser, they said some tracks will also charge you for grass seed.

I think that's a very good summary.I’ve done lots of TFs and I think one DN. Definitely faster driving standard on DN.

The majority of drivers on a DN event are experienced, it makes for much more relaxed driving on track whilst also having a faster average speed than say a Circuit Days event.
Saying that I do Circuit Days events, just go with different expectations. Cheaper day, more cars on track and more novices.
Did two circuit days events this yr as the DN timings didn’t work for me…first day wasn’t great tbh a lot of over zealous idiots and driving standards quite poor, that was in July. Second day in mid Oct much better but the trickier conditions probably helped. Overall I prefer DN but the traffic is very fast especially the Ring Prime days in July, could be v intimidating if you’re not reasonably experienced around there.
