Sorry if this has been asked before, but we're visiting Switzerland soon (from the UK) for the first time and getting conflicting advice re adaptors for Swiss electrical sockets. Some say an unobtainable Swiss adaptor is required, others say that a std Euro 2 pin adaptor will work fine sans earth...

Can anyone help me find the answer?

Thanks.

Switzerland uses a 3 pin plug, but the Euro 2 pin plugs will work. Just make sure it the thinner diameter pins (CEE 7/16) not the larger ones (CEE 7/17) see from the following Type C Euro Plug.

Good luck with the trip, Switzerland is a beautiful country.

europlugs should work in all sockets

They also have a 3 pin version of europlug, but not seen any travel adapters to fit
A normal europlug will still fit the 3 pin sockets

( i see i'm the slow-poster )

The problem comes on the sunken wall sockets, your normal Euro adaptor may not fit then.

Adapters are readily availble from Hornbach (like B&Q). There's one near us in Etoy. They convert from literally anything (UK, big Euro and US to Swiss) and they fit in the recessed sockets. Depends if you are passing one really...
