Thinking about going here for Easter. Much to do?

Thinking of staying at the Swiss Majestic. Experiences?

Got a good reputation for live music from round the world.
The jazz festival in July is supposed to be the biggest of its type.

Seems very relaxed and friendly.

Château de Chillon is just down the road, worth a visit

If you're looking for interesting roads in the area, a route like this would take in the ollon-villars hillclimb

Ollon-Villars is a nice drive and back down the other side to the valley at Bex. Did the road last autumn going to eat in a very good restaurant up in the mountains. Road surface was very very bumpy and winter will not have made it any better unfortunately.

Any other recommendations for good roads? Will have my new car so I don't want narrow, bumpy stuff

Unfortunately, not all that many good surfaced roads here. I have to wait to check out the Col de la Croix between Villars and Les Diablerets, Pillon to Gstaad and back over the Col des Mosses.

Don't recon they roads round Les Diablerets/Villar/Gstaad are that bad, not by the general standard round Vaud anyway.
Some of the worst roads in the area are down in the valley in towns like Aigle and Monthey.

Roads? I occasionally venture to the St Bernard pass - fun if you pick a time to avoid shed-draggers and campers. My favourite roads relatively close are in the Vaud canton bordering France, west of Lausanne. Nice flowing country roads leading to some climbs into the Jura mountains - good surface and traffic free.

For a non-motoring day wander around the World Heritage terraced vineyards, park in the car park of Chexbres and pick up a map from the tourist office in the station. Sensational views across Lac Leman to Mont Blanc. Check out the drinking fountain with a plaque "It's not chardonnay, but you can drink it"...

Enjoy

Did a nice drive yesterday in the middle of the afternoon up the Marchairuz and down the Mollendruz. Clear roads, very little traffic, no campers, very little bicycles (too late for them) and suchlike. Managed to blow the cobwebs out of the V8 and got it to clear its throat and roar while keeping an eye open for the cameras biggrin

Road surface is OK and winter has not hit it too much. Will suffice for most cars except a super low vehicle. Just have to be careful with the edge of the road from time to time when aiming for the apex.

Hoping to hit the Marchairuz in 10 days time - it's a great road that is not that well known, the "French" side (i.e. the drop to the La Cure/Les Rousses road) is sweet.
