Chaps,

Whats the easiest and cheapest way to transfer dosh from chuffs in Swiss back to yer Blighty account?

Id ask over at the mumsnet place but you never get a decent answer or the mods willy wave about using the search engine, etc, etc when all you want is a nice simple quick answer.

Oh and is it just me or as soon as a bird joins a conversation on there the entire thread descends into random irrelevent crap?

I bank with UBS, and have a CHF account & a GBP account

Transfer between them online for the best exchange rate, and then send in GBP back to UK for I think £20. regardless of amount sent. Same applies from the UK to CHF

Get a job at one of the banks - I get charged CHF 5 per transaction and get pretty much mid-rates.

From a high-street banking perspective, I don't think there is a huge amount of difference between the different providers. Transferring over CHF10k at a time will get you a slightly better rate. I think there are some online providers who will give you a better rate, but I have no idea who they are. Maybe try braving mumsnet on this one and using the search function will identify them...

I use UBS global transfer or SEPA, both very cheap (in swiss terms) when one has an account there.

Correct, John, with SEPA (http://www.ecb.int/paym/sepa/html/index.en.html) I never had any problems, if you know your partners IBAN/BIC details.

Transfers are cheap as you say, and moreover rather quick.

Have a nice Sunday everybody.

I have used Oanda in the past. Tight rates and fixed fee.
