A Ferrari sports car was totally written-off following an accident on Wednesday morning. Fortunately, the 44-year-old driver suffered only slight injuries.

The accident happened at around 9.45 am as the driver was on the way to Rotkreuz on Chamerstrasse. For some unknown reason, as the car was being driven through a right-hand bend, the Swiss driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle, which careered several dozen metres along the pavement before crossing both lanes and colliding into a parked trailer on the other side of the road. Fortunately no-one was on the pavement at the time.

The driver was taken by the emergency services to hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Police spokeswoman, Judith Aklin, said, "We do not yet know the cause of the accident but the road surface was dry and ice-free at the time and the trailer was correctly parked. Furthermore, a breathalyser test on the driver proved negative." The police subsequently had to inform the driver that the car, of which he is not the owner, had been totally written off in the accident, with damages amounting to CHF 240,000.

The section of road affected was reduced to one-lane traffic for around two hours after the accident.

Saw this in 20 Minuten last week- black 599 GTB if I remember correctly... not sure where they got "worth 240000 CHF" from- nothing for that price on Autoscout I don't think- they are still a bit pricier than that I think!
