So the move to the Nordkanton (Germany) hasn't worked out? I hope you are going to be earning in CHF. The pound set an all time low against the CHF earlier today.

I'm in Zurich and have a reasonably good knowledge of the local bars. I'm happy to share for a price (beer/jagermeister/coke + hookers etc).

The Zurich job has firmed up quickest.

I will be earling in CHF, on a long term contract, initial 6 months then rolling after that. Im replacing a guy who has been here 3 yrs, but is going off to the Middle East to find himself or something. So we are looking at probably here for years. After a yr Ill bring the wife over fully.

The Frankfurt bid is still being prepped (Plan B) if you will, but as things stand its Zurich. Ive found the English forum website you guys talk about and have tried to bash my way through the tax side. Just about got a handle on it and figure its roughly 25% tax in the Zurich canton, but Im not looking forward to that over 120k/tax form thingy!

And I have to find somewhere to stay by 24th Jan!

All help greatly appreciated and offers of beer accepted smile

I don't recall the OP mentioning anything about tax avoidance tongue out

ETA but if you are going to be paying 25% tax at source, then I would suggest looking at it. (25-35k a month on the new tariff).

I find that drinking and driving isn't the best combo. You know what they do to speeders here...

Ive just spoken to the chaps and it seems I will be paying even less tax than that. I am ridiculously happy.

Now I need to sort this medical and health lark out.

Welcome to CH!

I'm sure Ian can show you a good time in the bars and clubs around Zurich.

Zug's far better though (well, except Edlibach, that's full of cows and cement factories, and Marcus lives there) smile

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm surprised you say that about Zug. I'd have thought that at your stage of life you'd want to be as close to Dignitas as possible jester

Where's the ROFL Smiley? This will have to do bow

Zug is a small Canton next to Zurich. Let's just say it is a very tax-friendly place to live, especially for companies and high earners (even in comparison to the rest of CH). I'm sure it's a lovely place if you have a family, but for my tastes a little quiet.

Welcome. Zug is a great canton, not only for tax dodgers, but also if you like the outdoors. We have access to hiking, mountain biking, lake swimming, snowboarding/skiing all from right outside the door.

In the new year there should be some PistonHeads drinks especially whilst the passes are full of evil white fluffy stuff instead of the sound of V12's.

Only half an hour appart outside rush hour (around the same on the train, but since this is Pistonheads, lets not talk about that)

Sounds like I need to investigate this Zug place!

Er, how much more fiscally efficient is it? I was pretty damn impressed with how little living in Zurich Canton wanted me to pay!
