After about 10 years of using a knife and white spirited, occurred to me that maybe there might be an easier way of removing old vignette's ...

Anyone with any cunning tricks ?

(Did a site search, but no results ...)

They come off cleanly if you use a safety razor blade (one with a covered outer edge) lying very flat along the screen, start at one corner and then try to "shave" a whole edge at one time, wipe the glue excess off with glasreiniger
You can then use the vignette on another screen.....
Works well

Migros sometime sell a pack that includes a tool (basically as JMGS4 stated - just a posh safety razor blade) and a pen with special anti-sticky fluid in it.

However they seem to sell them only at certain times of the year (near Christmas) and sell out very quickly. I borrow a friends as I have never managed to buy one myself.

I like the idea some people have - leave them on, so you end up with 10 years of Vignetten on the windscreen.

I used one of these when my windscreen needed replacing last year and it removed it intact, takes razor blades:

So, when vignette changes has to be made it is wintertime and usually cold. My trick is to borrow the hair dryer from the missus, head the vignette and with a simple knife peel it off. Clean with some paint thinners and glass cleaner after. Takes all of 5 minutes to remove and stick on the new one.
The idea to keep the old ones as souvenirs can end you up will trouble from the plod, as the rules say the vignette has to be identified rapidly. So with a collection on the screen, this will not be the case.

Like the idea of heating it with a hairdryer

It is normally about -20 when I change mine !

I had heard its against the law to have old/multiple ones displayed (on the motorway), due to the automatic vignette camera's now in operation.

ps

Seems a pity really, 'cos I remember seeing classic old cars when I was kid with a complete ring of vignettes going round the edge of the windscreen.

I just had to remove an '09 left on by the previous owner of my car & replace with a '10.

I managed to pick it off successfully with just my finger nails, 'ring' by 'ring'. bit fiddly, but only took a couple of minutes.

+1 on the hairdryer. Comes of very easy no need for scraping o.a.
