Got a day/night/day off next week (UK Granny is over to babysit) and was thinking about taking the 993 (and the wife) away - quite fancy doing the Col de Nivolette (the end of the Italian job road) - anyone else done it? did you stay overnight anywhere?

I'm open to suggestions - ideally i dont want to be driving for XX hours just to do a pass - would prefer a round route e.g Susten/ Grimsel / Furka type route.

Thought about the Grossglockner but its too many hours on m-ways just to get there.....

Can be in CH or anywhere within striking distance?

All sensible suggestions welcomed........

Furka, susten, grimsel, is hard to beat. Mrs chandrew & I had babysitters and took the lotus over these and several others recently for a weekend and stopped for lunch in the restaurant on the grimsel where we had coffee & cake in the clouds. Good food and I'm tempted to do a night there before the snow comes. Met 20 odd ferraris in the car park. Felt sorry for the owners as they were obviously too big and rubbish suspension ;-)

Otherwise it might be worth going towards the ofenpass and stelvio

Do this regularly every sunday morn, before the other wrinklies get their barges out with their wimmin to go a fill their faces at some restaurant...

Plenty of excellent roads here in southern BF, especially the N-S valleys, up one down the other all day long... best time to start is around 7am on Sundays... by midday one has done the driving and can retire to a good gasthof for a meal and a snooze in the sun...
