caught by speed camera :(
Discussion
in an 80 zone, recon I was doing 110, only flashed once (front red flash), stupid I know but it was very late at night and I was driving home, roads totally clear a mobile camera that I've never seen there before (hidden behind a fence on a dirt track grrr)
So what can I expect, 1 month ban?

I was sad enough to compare the table back to its original source. It seems correct. Were you doing a real 110 or indicated?
If real by the time you take off the margin for error of 6kmh you would be 24 over which means a 320 fine, but no ban for a first offence. 26 or over and you're looking forward to a month of being chauffeured

I checked the speedo against gps yesterday and its spot on, so 110 on the speedo, just so long as its not 10 day salaryIf real by the time you take off the margin for error of 6kmh you would be 24 over which means a 320 fine, but no ban for a first offence. 26 or over and you're looking forward to a month of being chauffeured

very luckyI drove a new route home from work last summer trying out the Chimaera on some windy roads. Luckily it rained on the Friday as 4 speeding tickets arrived a week or so later for Mon through Thurs hitting between 60-65 in a 50. I didn't even notice the speed sign or camera. Now I know !!

My wife just got done for 22k over (corrected) first offence, no ban but total fines came to over 1000CHF. First ticket was 350 (+ / -) then we had other costs. I wonder how much the Swedish guy will have to pay after having been zapped by a speed camera the other day in the Fribourg region at 290kmh... Car confiscated for the moment Apparently he said that the speedometer was not working The police caught him because he parked on a reserved Police parking space at the autoroute works and police center in Rennaz while visiting a gypsy camp just next door. I wonder what was going on

I read yesterday that the Swedish guy has been fined around 1 million CHF! Or 4 Merc SLS gullwings. I can't see this one going without an appeal or negotiation. Shouldn't have been speeding at 290 kph, and the number of different excuses he's used- broken speedo, thought it was derestricted like Germany etc. just don't wash. You know you are going extremely quickly because you really have to concentrate hard; whereas at 12o kph you could (almost!) do it half asleep!
So it seems that could be the outcome, but has not been fined for the moment...

I live quite near Nyon where the guy was eevntually caught. The temporary gypsy campsite appeared to demonstrate a considerable level of affluence and 9 out of 10 of the towing cars were late model Mercs! It reminded me that I once saw a group of Gypsies camped up near Neuchatel and there was a Ferrari in amongst them. I bet the local police are having a field day!
When I first heard about this story I assumed it was on the A1 near the Payerne air base where they keel the F/A-18's. There's a straight section there that's at least 6km long and apparently, the military could quickly remove the central reservation armco and it would double up as an emergency runway! It's so frustrating driving along there at 120kmph!
The SLS is cool! There's a car club based between Lausanne and Geneva that has one on its fleet! www.carz.ch
