I'm thinking of joining one of them.

Any suggestions, preferences (and reasons why) would be appreciated...

Some time back when I was involved racing cars, you had to be a member of the ACS as it was the official sporting body approved by the FIA. I think that both TCS and ACS are accredited today. I have remained a member of the ACS.

I can't really give a good comparison for you as I have only been a member of TCS. However I can say that the two times that I have used TCS in the last 5 years, the level of service has been nothing short of exceptional. Great level of service and communication by phone and the two guys I have met from roadside assistance knew their stuff, did their very best to rectify the problem and in one case where they could not, made some great recommendations on where to go to get the problem resolved. Big thumbs up
