I thought it was, as my local shell garage has it, but since it's a few hundred metres fromm the lambo and bentley showroom in Opfikon, I guess that might skew thimgs in favour of high octane.

I can't really comment as only filled up once since having my car here, but the Shell garage on the way into Zurich (E60) has VPower 100.

Some of the more "modern" (updated) Shell stations around here have it available, but the price yikes I'm sticking to the more usual super 98.

Practically all larger Shell stations north of the Alps have VPower. It's far less common once you hit the Alps though, and south of them, but they are some around.

You can find the Shell VPower stations listed in their handbook of all Shell Stations in Switzerland:

we used to live near a station in the uk that sold the 105 octane petrol (near brands hatch) they had to stick a padlock on the pump in the end as idiots didn't read the price and filled up with it, it was the same price per litre as a gallon of normal.

Ouch that's not cheap at all. I haven't filled up at a Shell yet, so hadn't noticed it. What's the premium over 98RON? I've asked on the Porsche forum if my car can take advantage, but if anyone here knows the answer...996 turbo.

The listing shows that most stations seem to have the V100. I tried the stuff once, but I can't say for sure that I noticed a marked increase in performance. Did see a slight decrease in consumption though.

You'll in all probability not notice anything except the price. The only place it'd be an advantage would be on the track when running at continuous high revs. In traffic it might just burn a bit cleaner, but very doubtful if consumption would change more then a very minor figure behind the decimal point.....

You are right, John, just pricey, I stick to "normal" 98 ;-) no consumption difference or acceleration improvement with V Power....

See you tomorrow

My old car was designed to run on five star leaded (if you're old enough to remember stars).

Filling up with 95 or even 98 causes the occasional pinking. 100 and she runs like a clock!
