Greetings all,

Just in case any of you are heading to Basel from Bern- there is a sneaky mobile speed camera on the autobahn (E26/E25) on/off ramp (80 kph limit) hidden in the hedge just as you come over the motorway after the first left turn.

http://maps.google.ch/maps?q=47.312439,7.805893&am...

It pinged me 2 weeks ago, probably still there. Fortunately I was driving my mother-in-law's Merc ML, and not my own car, otherwise the 180 CHF fine would have been more like a custodial sentence!
You've been warned!

Thanks for the info and to keep in mind when driving up to Basel. Is it a fixed or mobile unit?

Mobile unit- that's why it caught me out- I tend to remembr Speed camera locations for most of the journeys I do. It's these sneaky hidden temporary ones that you can't account for!

I'm thinking of creating a Google map with all the locations in CH I know about, then maybe others can add to it.
And whilst I don't have a modern TomTom or similar, I couldn't possibly condone entering coordinates for these special points of interest...

wink

Good idea, but be careful cause announcing radar locations could be a nono as this info is forbidden on the radio. Probably something to do kind of "under the coat"

You used to be able to get the radar locations for most kantons from radar.ch.
Don't know if the page still exists, but I downloaded the lot a while back...

can also get the files easily on the net for tomtom, igo, garmin etc

If you have a wince based satnav I can give you a 'modified' copy of igo with all the camera's in, what type they are, what direction they point in and what speed. all announced way before you get to them, eg "speed camera 50 kph" it also has the average speed cameras in, and gives you your average speed in between them, very handy indeed smile

camera files are available from http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/ you need to register, but its free.
