Hidden speed camera - road from Raten nr Zug
Discussion
Got caught by a very sneaky camouflaged mobile speed camera on the road from Raten away from Aegeri at Im Gutsch, Bennau. Just to warn you guys as it flipping blinded me this morning by flashing a red light in my face as I was driving - nice, really safe!

Bad luck. I have to say I try and exercise a very careful right foot but they'll be on the top of the passes before long . Touch-wood I have yet to have a speeding ticket in Switzerland (wife has which 'helps' when she mentions my driving )
If the Swiss focused as much on other aspects of road-safety, like being stricter on seat belt use (13% of drivers don't wear them) then maybe the roads would truly be a safer place.
Oh, and whilst I am venting, don't get me on to those speed limit changes before hairpins. I think I'm perfectly capable of judging what is the safe speed I can drive around a corner especially with warning signs and corner markers. And for those who can't, let's just say it's all part of Darwinian selection.
Rant over.

I was really referring to putting fixed cameras. Yes, I've seen speed tests on most of the passes, but they seem to start mid morning at the weekend. By this time I'm usually having coffee at home.
I remember when I had some training by John Lyon in the UK he used to talk about understanding where there would be speed tests. Whilst the details are different in Switzerland the mentality of thinking where the tests could be applies. Villages are obviously a no-no for speeding and I wipe off all speed before getting to the 50 sign. Motorways especially in tunnels and roadworks likewise. On the open, straight bits I rarely speed as it would be easy for someone to get a good 'lock' and it's an obvious place to speed - if I wanted to catch speeding drivers that's where I'd go.
I took the view a bit ago that Switzerland isn't a place for speeding and I get my enjoyment from the very twisty bits where it'd be hard to get to the speed limit. I chose a car which isn't about all-out speed but about making good, smooth progress in these places - and of course not being stuck behind caravans for too long .

Ah yes I will think twice about doing that, they are all obviously car haters and speeding is disgraceful act.
I was just trying to provide a helpful service and stop people getting a fine for driving 1kph over the 80kph limit on a straight smooth road with only a couple of farm houses. The amount of times Evo, Scooby and such like drivers have flashed at me to warn of mobile cameras, and I always try to do the same.
Ah well you can't please everyone!
