Hi guys and gals, just had a funny experience...
Stopped leaving CH on the Basel-Karlsruhe Autobahn (yesterday Sunday) border by the swiss. Apparently there is an APNR between the Schwarzwaldtunnel (under Basel Badische Bahnhof) and the border. They had my numberplate listed for 5 YEARS!!! for a blitzer on the Basel Stadtautobahn in 2004!!!!!! Naturally I paid the 120,-SFR (as it was that, or they'd hold me until I could appear in court on Tuesday or Wednesday!) but it took the twunts almost an hour to get the computers fired up to print me a receipt!
AND they told me to keep the receipt in the car as their paperwork may take up to 6 months to get updated... so much for Swiss efficiency!!
I can be fecked around for an hour for a 5 year old fine (of which I had no knowledge) and can expect to get fecked around at the border for the next 6 months becaue they so foo kin lazy!!!!

No probs with the fine! I asked the Grenzer why it was still on the books after all that time, "we NEVER let a fine run out with foreigners"!! Questionable in my mind as they do run out for Swiss IMHO!

I'm soooo glad we sold the landcruiser, just hope the new owner never decides to drive it back here!!

Interesting. Touch wood, but I have been across that crossing many a time in the past 4 years and have not had anything said to me. I know to have been flashed a couple of times too. I think that I'll stick to using the smaller boarder crossing until the new car arrives.

The ANPR seems to be fairly new! At least the grenzer implied that!

Apparently my girlfriend's mother received a little surprise through the mail a little while ago for a speed camera infringement in Switzerland. She has a local plate too (WT) so perhaps they are just targetting local German residents?

I don't fancy my chances though so I think on my way home next Sunday I'll divert through Rheinfelden and pop in for Cafe und Kuechen with the future MIL.

The other way round seems to work also..... I got caught and flashed about 20 years ago in Germany in a 50km zone and the fine was sent a couple of weeks later to my home. Paid it (don't remember how much but was just a couple of DM's) to avoid any problems as I travelled to Germany on a regular basis.
I believe that Switzerland now has bilateral agreements with several countries (France and Italy I know) on giving car ownership information to traffic offenders. Conclusion: drive carefully driving

Bugger, I thought it was only France they had an agreement with. Oh well, it's going to be a while before they have one with the British I hope
