I'm planning on a 'day' driving route for my summer trip to the Alps
Meiringen, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, up a bit of the St Goddard & onto the Susten Pass & back to Meiringen.
Does this sound OK + the best direction to do it in, or would clockwise be better ? I'm hoping at touring speed ( wife is in the car ) this should be a nice day trip
Any other advice welcome

Very nice trip, easily done in a day, when I do this trip I go down to Airolo from Grimsel, then up and over the Neufenen pass and round to the back of the Grimsel/Furka, this is course if you do the Susten first on the way round. The passes do not offically open until the 1st July, but normally open earlier if the weather has been good, although last year we have 4 inches of snow above 2000m in August!Meiringen, Grimsel Pass, Furka Pass, up a bit of the St Goddard & onto the Susten Pass & back to Meiringen.

Watch out for motorbikes, dont be tempted to race them, too many fatalities every year up there...
I like to go clockwise, this way after you have done the nufenen, you drive on to Ulrichen, turn right and drive up to Gletsch. I think this is the prettiest part of the route. At Gletsch you can drive on up to the top of the Furka (its not that far) then turn round go back down to Gletsch and then do the Grimsel.
Gletsch is around 1500m asl, so its not a major climb to the top of the Grimsel, and then you are down to Innertkirchen, and on too Meringen.
I live/holiday in Grindelwald and do this trip often from there, and it can be done easily in a day, around 300 km, but with plenty of places to stop and eat, and refuel(in the towns in the valleys) it will be a grand day out.
