Lauterbrunnen?

Hello everyone,
Can anyone persuade me not to purchase an apartment in Lauterbrunnen? i want to purchase property in chf for my own use and rental ability and am keen on lauterbrunnen, given the beauty of this area. i am planning to drive over in my tvr august time, and would hope to purchase when i am there. However, if you can give me any advice it would be appreciated.

Hi,a great place,been round there a number of times summer and winter,however Switzerland is solid place to keep your money but not for investment(growth}my tip for great driving roads and good investment {TGV trains) and nice skiing plus nearer to home try the Alsace/Loraine areas in eastern france,Vosges mountains,one of my favorite places.Email if you like for more info

I lived in Switzerlad for a decade and rue the day I left. That was many years ago -- I drove back and forth from GB to Zurich several times in my new Taimar (that's how long ago it was). I return regularly, nowadays to Gstaad (easiy acesible by road from Geneva for when you fly, as you will when the novelty of driving all that way wears off). Lauterbrunnen is fine but prices anywhere in that region still seem to attract an "Interlaken surcharge". Some lovely properties there, less expensive than many places in the UK thanks to the £/Sfr rate and the relative lack of property price inflation in CH. Watch for any residual restrictions on property ownership by foreigners (this varied/es from Canton to Canton). yes, we really like swz, the place and people. weve done a lot of research, though we find the prices reasonable in lauterbrunnen as compared to say villars or elsewhere. have you been over there by train from the uk? and do you think swz will see an upshift in property prices??

We travelled several times from Belgium to CH (we moved to Brussels after leaving Zurich) and the long-haul trains were great (just as in Switzerland itself). My brother & girlfriend used Swiss trains this past Spring and raved about low cost / high quality (not like South West Trains garbage). CH property values unlikley to drop IMHO, but also consider long-term £/Sfr exchange, and also interest rates: if you need to borrow SFrs make sure it is linked to Swiss interst rates not UK, otherwise you risk getting stung twice.
