Hey all, have my kids coming over in the summer, and I want to rent a motor launch for a whole day on Lake Lucerne, I have no qualifications, but it’s a big lake right... statistically you are unlikely to run into anyone.

Any recomends or knowledge? Will be five of us, so not after a massive thing.

I am in Zug ..

thanks

Unfortunately I think its impossible to hire in Switzerland without the relevant licences (and think it might even be lake specific!). There are some guys i've used for wakeboarding on Lake Luzern who's details I can get for you but you wouldn't be able to drive yourself...

Italy have less issue renting without having a boat licence - you can get a 40hp boat on Lake Como or Maggiore with just a car licence but that might be a bit too far for a day trip

Thanks, I found something but it’s like 1000chf for a day hire... which even for here is bonkers. Plus it’s limited in speed, hence no license.

Have looked at the licensing, but it’s a right faff, and the practical is likely to be in SwissGerman only (not unreasonably, but a bit of a barrier)

Hey Ho. No wonder the Lake is so empty !

Hey mate, you can rent them in Zug without a license, down by the old town harbour.

They are fairly slow, but good fun to potter about the lake in

Thanks, I really wanted to get out on Lucern, but will take a look at Zug.

No worries, you could always try the other places on lake luzern - like Kussnacht, Meggen or Weggis, then potter over to Luzern from there

Luzern is better seen from a distance anyway!
