Hello Swiss type persons.

I'm planning this year's holidays doing a Euro trip. Is F1 on "normal" TV live in Switzerland? (TV which is likely to be in hotel/bar)

Being a true PHer I will need to plan to be in a different country on the Sundays if not hehe

Many thanks

Yes it is on the main Swiss channel. Also on Austrian and on RTL, so you should have pretty good changes of watching it.

You will most likely have the choice of French, German or Italian commentaries on the Swiss channels, but no English though.

thumbup For the chuckle worthy syntax.

Even though I find F1 rather convoluted at times I always have to research it's availability where/when I travel.

You might be able to start a sky tv and or BBC account and stream it online if the Swiss coverage is sparse. F1 coverage seems to be pretty lousy on any network other than the British based broadcasters. Frankly, the BBC/Sky coverage is fantastic compared to other countries.

Sky Go or similar is only licenced for UK usage (unfortunately)

I thought if you have some kind of account with address in the UK it will allow ip addresses outside of the uk when you login. I could be entirely wrong though.

If you find a place which has Swisscom TV or others providers, you will have BBC World, One, Two Three and Four, ITV 1, 2, 3 and 4, Channel 4, Film4 E4, More4, Five and other english language news channels. I watch F1 on the BBC and the BTCC on ITV biggrin

Cool, thanks

Based on advice given we have settled on Montreux as our GP tv stop over on the road trip. (en route to Villefranche sur Mer & then the obligatory drive around Monaco GP circuit route

Check with the hotel what English speaking channels they offer guests. Sometimes they are real penny pinches and offer a minimum of channels. If you are stopping off at the Montreux Palace, then I imagine there should be no problem biggrin

Not Montreux Palace this time. Not too worried about the language, as long as I have the pictures! Thanks biggrin

If you have a laptop or iPad, try Tunnelbear application.

You can then watch/listen to f1 on radio as you go. Sky might work....

It all went to plan!

I love my girlfriend...

We stopped in Montreux to break the journey to Turin. She suggested we stay Saturday & Sunday so I could see the German GP. As suggested it was on at least 2 channels..result!

We then went to Turin to see the museum at Lingotto

Then off to the sea at Portovenere. In my own mind I had written off the chance to see the Hungarian GP as that was our day to drive Portovenere to Villefranche-Sur-Mer....

..then i remembered the race wouldn't until 14.00...

...so, girlfriend even though we are on holiday please get up early to make the start...

Arrived in France one hour before kick-off...yikes now not on free TV!!!!!!!

Found a scabby feed from Russia or somewhere...all good

And then enjoyed this

So..thanks all!
