Hi folks

I will be travelling from Annecy, France to Gerardmer, France in August this year and Google Maps takes me through CH. Could anyone with some local knowledge advise if I need a vignette i.e. are the roads semi motorway or motoway?

The route comes out as Annecy - Geneva - Lausanne - Berne - Basel - back to France

Thanks

Graham

Edited to add: DOH...just spotted the title: in my haste to get a post on before I went out I misspelled Switzerland. Apologies to all the Swiss and could a Mod please change it?? ta smile

I can confirm that if you drive on motorways in Swizzyland, you will need the appropriate "vignette" valid from December 1 of each year for 13 months. It still costs 40.- for the moment, but there are talks of upping it to 100.- with "tourist" versions valid a shorter period (and cheaper) than the standard 13 months.

That route is Motorway all the way. A more interesting route might be to go through the Jura on the France / Switzerland border
