Have some of you boys been over doing it again with the loud pedal ?

I am informed of a story on WRS yesterday regarding a group of cars stopped and or fined ?

"hooligans" I am reliably informed by my 76 year old father !

No one here I hope or was it old news ?

That was only a reference to a similar occurance last year when the police stopped various cars believed to be part of the Gumball 3000. If I remember correctly though, that was never proven and "blick.ch" (which is just a sensationalistic newspaper) is still running with the story as if it were fact.

I'm also not sure how much truth is in that article. From what it says, it is believed that the drivers were pulling dangerous overtakes on each other and putting others at risk. This tempted other motorists to call the police which then cought them somewhere in the Berner-Oberland before the Grimselpass. Two Ferraris and a Porsche had to cash up up to 2500 CHF each that should cover possible fines and administrative costs.

From what I gather, they [the Police] don't have sufficient evidence yet and are relying on other witnesses to come forward that may have seen something. I'd be also interested to know who judges what one or multiple witnesses have supposedly seen, while remaining absolutely objective? Just think about overtaking in a very loud car a fellow motorist who's in his late 70s driving along with 60 in a 80 zone? Regardless if you had overtaken him below the marked speed limit, through his subjective eyes, it would probably seem as if you were doing at least double the speed limit.

I thought you're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty?

Fully agree, Phil.

The only times I've been given 'dagger looks' when driving the GTO is pottering around town well below the speed limit, by doddery old people. You know the sort, who drive 60 in a 60, 60 in an 80, 60 in a 50...

Agreed, also whats seen as a dangerous place to overtake in a VW golf may not be so bad in a 600bhp enzo
