S2000 to be sold
Discussion
My car is not advertised currently so this is not an advert if I just describe my car and exclude a price.
It's burgundy black, April 2008 registered, it has 9,500 on the clock. It has 3 Honda stamps.... just had a full service at Honda Dunstable.
I am selling it as I need a family car. I have a year old son, looking at family type cars. Mercedes-Benz Cls500, BMW 650i, Mercedes-Benz E-class coupe etc etc...

I am going to stick it in auto trader this weekend.. need to wash it... put my son in it and take a few pictures etc. A part of me is thinking of sodding the £35k coupe and going for a family car with a bit of class.. VW touareg and then get a smart classic car for £4-5k. A nice MGB with chrome wire wheels.
I can not help but feel that it will be sad to see my S2000 go as it is cheap to own, and its a hoot. I am sure I will get my pleasures from my classic car too! different sort though.
The 550i is a beast. What sort of cash we looking at here for one of those.
The other thing is I feel its quite a rough time in the economy so flashing cash is not a great thing. That can wait another 2-3 years and if I get bored of the VW sooner then I can always sell and buy something more fun.
I am still deciding.
I am a sports car fan, i.e 2 door cars, or gt coupes and if I can not do either then it has to be a 4*4! I don't fancy saloons that much unless its a Jag XJR but at 30 i do not think I am ready for that!

The cost of insurance is such a draw back with the S2000 and unfortunately insurance across the board has gone up 40% on average since last year and has made me take a step backwards in owning one. Also it has become increasingly difficult to find a decent condition facelifted model (04/05) that sits under the whopper £445 road tax.

Yeah, it seems like nothing this side of a supercar is more expensive to insure and fuel than an S2000..... it's a real pain but ofset by the fact that maintaining it doesnt cost the earth because it is so reliable. You're right about finding decent ones as well. 04/05's are so rare and when I was looking, there were alot of dogs with silly asking prices at dealers...sutats said:

In the grand scheme of things £180 a year extra isn't a lot more to pay. I think the current tax on pre 06 cars is £280 now. For the sake of getting a newer car. Pre '06 cars over 225 CO2 are band K, which is £260 a year, iirc.
Was looking recently at Alpina B3s of 03/04 era, and thought much the same as yourself until I checked the directgov site.
