Civic coupé question...

Hi all,
At the risk of having my PH'er wings well and truly flamed - I've been looking at Honda Civic coupés around the 2003 - 2005 (EP3?) vintage as a replacement vehicle for Mrs. SVX. Of the the vehicles that keep coming up whilst browsing through the 'Trader and on the PH Classifieds there are quite a lot of Hybrid models available.
What is the general opinion on these? Especially at this age? Worth a look - or worth staying well clear? I know naff all about Hybrids, and to be honest, have never considered one. But low fuel consumption and VED is quite tempting.
Any real world ownership opinions greatly appreciated.
