Hello All,

Right, 3rd service on my S2000. 9,400 miles on the clock. Guess how much the following will be?

Oil change,

Oil filter change,

Brake fluid change,

Rear differential fluid change and all the major checks including drive belt adjustments.

369INC VAT & labour with and MOT £54.85INC VAT. Hmmm that is more than Audi I believe on their TT service costs. What a joke.

Doesn't seem ludicrous - it's £200-£250 for a normal service? Diff and Brake fluids easily another £100 ? Not that i'm saying it's cheap, but it's a 240BHP car, not a Jazz 1.4.

OH okay. I suppose I was thinking it was expensive.

On my Audi TT 225bhp I had services from Audi at £280!

My previous Honda service was £180, i.e year 1 and 2 both. A surprise when I get quoted double for a 3rd year. The only thing that has changed in the garage, 2,500 more miles, the car is a year older and VAT is 2.5% more.

240bhp is not a lot nowadays.

Really...? That is more than BMW, Audi, Jaguar and Mercedes.

Anyway, it is good to be dumping the brand. I will be folking out a premium price for a non-premium product. I always though Honda, Ford, and Renault, Madza are in the same bucket.

Maybe I am being a tight ass! sorry, I just did not expect it to be so much!

Servicing costs are dependant on where you are located, as labour rates vary around the UK with London and the south east being most expensive.

Honda Happiness plan fixes the price on common parts and they are usually a good deal cheaper than elsewhere.

I'd rather a decent independent specialist looked after my car than most main dealers anyway, and buy all my own OEM parts / servicing items for them to fit.

Below average mileage is not relevant. 2500 miles round town with thousands of stop/start journeys where the car never fully warms up would wear the car more than 10000 miles on the motorway.

Servicing when you want to retain Honda warranty goes on time OR mileage, whichever comes first.

I haven't seen an S2000 service booklet but I assume it's similar to the Civic

Year 1 or 12500 miles = glorified oil change
Year 2 or 25000 miles = Valve clearances and various other stuff plus glorified oil change
Year 3 or 37500 miles = glorified oil change
Year 4 or 50000 miles = Valve clearances and various other stuff plus glorified oil change
Year 5 or 62500 miles = glorified oil change
Year 6 or 75000 miles = Valve clearances and various other stuff plus glorified oil change, plus timing belt check etc

Possibly a tad expensive, brake + diff change would have added at least £80 (did it need diff?). Normal service circa £180, bearing in mind its fully synthetic oil too. Did it include the MOT? - I use a trusted independent @ £35 for the MOT.

There's a big difference in price between main dealers. One cost you wont get with the S2k over a TT is the cambelt + water pump replacement wink

Didnt think you could get Honda Happiness scheme on S2000 and NSX ?

Typical dealer pricing
The schedule is specific to the S2000
Not "Honda Happiness" on it either
It's alot cheaper if you free issue your own fluids and don't get them to MOT it wink

There's often big differences in cost between dealers.

I wanted a level 1 service, got quoted £210 by a main dealer in Swindon. I then rang another dealer - I got a level 2 service done plus a brake fluid change, for the same cost. It definitely pays to shop around.

I might try providing my own oil etc next time to see if it brings the cost down.

I paid £175 for the basic service on my S2000 at the honda main dealer in Herstmonceux last summer, they were nice bunch to deal with compared to most main dealers

They obviously gave the car a good once over as they picked up on a few bits which needed doing, gave prices to do the work with no pressure to have it done by them.

I suspect they are quoting you for the bigger service

I have to say I never had water pump issues or cambelt issues on the TT. I suppose I was lucky. I sold it when it had about 55,000 on the clock. I really loved it.

I am going to book it into Enfield. The price is probabily the best around. I called Honda Chiswick, Colindale and Loughton. Enfield was not bad in price and it is local so I will bite the bullet and do it there. I don't want to be cheap, just want a good job at a good price. I suppose I did not realise how much they charge for a major service.

I want the car to be mint, all checked and cleared and all parted that need to be replaced should be replaced. I want to sell a mint car in April/may time. It's easier to sell such cars.

Phone around , in my opiniuon that is too much.

At least ask for the mot to be included foc.

I have never paid that much in 8 years for wifeys S2000,even for the major service with the valve adjustment required too. Every service is by a main dealer .

Give them a call and ask them to help you justify keeping the servicing with the main dealer . wink

No , the S2000 is at 9000miles or 12 month intervals

Biggest charge to date , over the 8 years is £ 280.05 including a free mot, it is an incredibly cheap car to have serviced .

Yep, it's relatively cheap to run but some people seem to think the S2000 isn't a premium product because it's got an 'H' badge on the front instead of a couple of rings - and the 9000rpm engine only puts out a mere 240 horses from 2 litres whereas a premium product would use a turbo'd 1.8 to put out less, of course.

so true ,you only have to drive a decent one to realise it is a premium product .

Hello, I dont think the S2000 is a premium product. 240bhp is nothing to write home about. The interior is not premium, nor are the electronics. Have you seen the stereo? The best way to describe the S2000 is functional and efficient.

A Fiat 500 is more premium! lol.

Anyway... the S2000 is booked in for a service at £370. seems a lot but is the cheapest I can find. I called Chiswick, Colindale, and Loughton Honda. Most quoted me over £400!
