99 civic idleing funny

Guys,

99 civic Idleing funny.

Revs keep raising and dropping.

Does it less when air con is on or car is in gear.

Also stops doing it when the air flow meter plug is removed but runs horrible

If anybody could shed some light would be great

could be an air leak somewhere on the induction side, my E30 did this when the inlet manifold were slightly leaking.

East to check, with the car running spay some WD40 around the joints of any pipes or gaskets on the inlet side, if the revs noticeably pick up then there's an air leak
