hi
im looking to Px my current runabout for a 4 door civic 1.4 IMA hybrid. (2007)

I was wondering if there is any problems with the battery life.
will i have to have the battery pack replaced in a few years? as they are expensive to replace.

I loved the original 2 seater insight, and i know many have now had their batteries replaced.

thanks !

On the CRZ forum this query was asked for a CRZ but should answer your question for the Civic:

"Another reply from Honda UK to some follow up questions:

Thank you for your reply.

The 8 year warranty was provided on the Civic Hybrid and Insight, however it has not for the CR-Z.
The rumour that the batteries only last 7 years is totally unjustified. Honda UK has reduced the warranty coverage on IMA as it generally is not required to provide such a long coverage.
With regards to cost of replacement battery, we are unable to clarify this as this will also depend on dealer labour rates which alter from dealer to dealer.
We hope this clarifies your query."

I've got a 2004 IMA in the family, that's been fine. Had to change the normal battery a couple of times though.

Don't leave the lights on, they go flat real quick!

The first one failed in warranty, so that one was changed, and then the replacement went out of warranty.

I'm in the trade, so get trade prices on parts anyway. Needless to say, it wasn't a honda replacement..

Do you mean the IMA battery? Where did you get a non oem new IMA battery?

There are a couple of IMA battery reconditioners in the US ASFAIK but that's it.

The IMA batteries can be rebuilt and the addition of what is called a grid charger can also increase the useful life significantly. I've rebuilt a few IMA batteries but it's a time consuming job.
