Hi all

I am looking to buy a Honda Civic Type S GT and I am wondering if it is possible to add the Honda sat nav and bluetooth upgrades to a car which hasn't ordinarily had them installed.

Are there places/attachments needed for this and how much would it cost (if possible)?

So its a Civic without the sat nav?

If it hasn't the nav I would seriously look at finding a car with one fitted rather than trying to modify a car without. I am reliably informed a replacement screen is £1,000 so you can imagine what it would cost for a full system and the bluetooth.

The radio controls are different for cars fitted with the sat nav and I would guess the steering wheel controls would be different too.

Thanks for the response, just weighing up the pros and cons.

I have a TomTom already but interested in the Type S GT's integrated system. If it's going to cost that much then it may be worth looking for the GT-T instead!

Yes a GT-T has a touchscreen that sits in the space the regular radio fits. If I were you that's the direction I would go. It doesn't look quite as nice, but it will certainly not give you heart failure over cost.

Whatever you do, don't buy Honda's accessroy bluetooth kit (the one that fits on the A Pillar). It is rubbish and a huge mistake on my part.

My bluetooth set up in my current car is routed through my stereo headunit (which I'll lose after getting the Civic), so I'm struggling to think of ideas.

What's the matter with the Honda one?

Well how can I put it. The car is first class, the aftermarket official accessory Bluetooth kit is a word that begins with S and ends in T. I sound like i'm speaking into a bucket and no one can hear me at 70+

Ok thanks for your help, may have to think of something else as a substitute then....

Also, does anyone know what the main differences between the Type S and the Type S GT are? I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find anything relevant.

I need to widen my search criteria whilst incorporating the sat nav (possibly bluetooth) and don't want to tie myself to the GT if the difference is minimal!

Yes me again.

We have an S and an S GT.

The main differences are:

Glass Roof
Power Fold Mirrors
Dual Zone Climate
Auto Wipers & Lights
Tweeter Speakers on the upper part of the doors
Cruise Control (might be engine related not trim that)
`
Those are the differences between a 2008 and 2009 Model year car.

Ok cool, so is there anything different with regards to the exterior of the car?

It depends on model year and engine. Tell me the model year your looking and I will let you know the differences.

In that case externally all should be the same. The facelift was 2009 model year. Try and go for an 08 if you can.
