...tried them today as they advertise on here at:

Honda S2000
30 year old, 5000 miles a year
Doctor
Max NCB, 2 speeding and one accident
Bath
£475 fully comp

I am 36, have 14 years NCB, do the same mileage, have no claims or convictions and live in a low crime area.

The cheapest they could quote me? £735.00!!! And as for adding my partner who has had one low cost accident (nobody else involved) and an SP30 which is due to expire in a matter of months - sorry madam, our insurers wont cover him.

Car is going on the market! Buggered if i'm doing this insurance dance every year for a car that - whilst it is lovely - isn't a premium brand!

Pah!

That's just the way it's going with car insurance, isn't it?

I think it's just a case of lube up and bend over these days. Nothing you can do except shop around, but most quotes will be coming in higher this year.

Do you live together? Each have your own car? Get a quote for a multicar policy. Admiral gave me a policy for c.£250 less than I paid last year and saved my g/f £50 too.

Downside is she's now insured to drive my car...

It's because you’re not a doctor!

Joking aside I live in Enfield EN1, 30 years old but the car was insured when I was 29, I have a S2000 2008, I do 4,000 miles a year and I pay £500. Oh by the way I’m an accountant – I don’t think that has much impact upon the cost of insurance.

I live just around the corner and their quote was laughable. So laughable that all the guy said was that he was comming in well over £400 and didnt say how much over. My renewal was under (well under).

The excuse was "all insurance is more expensive this year". That is a feeble attempt at price conditioning by the industry. An insurance company still needs to retain or improve their market share to meet their current liabilities (as per article often quoted in news media), so on with the search.

I used flux few years ago, was cheap at the time but I went through a couple of cars £25.00 charge to change a car! then £25.00 to add someone on the insurance for a day, makes cheap insurance not so cheap, then someone drove into my car wile parked outside work....hard work getting my car repaired and no replacement car because it was only cosmetic damage!

Never again!

I have used flux in the past for insuring the Caterham, and they were good. I have just swapped the Caterham for an S2000, and I got a good deal on the insurance with Direct Line, yes that's Direct Line. Have my tin top insured with them and they did a load of changing and swapping and I got both cars insured for a great price. Hopefully renewal time won't be a disappointment

Seriously? Im 26, insured with flux at 8,000 miles a year. 3 years NCB, Car garaged (not that this makes any difference), Only modification is exhaust which is declared. The cost? £800 fully comp on my S2k with mother as a named driver with one fault accident in March.

Have you tried giving Keith Micheals a call? They are a broker and a lot of people who i have forwarded to them have been given decent quotes for all kinds of cars. They specialise in imports and quick cars and try and find the best quote. Best person to speak to i found is John Roberts.

Try A-Plan. Been very competitive with me for a few years, and provide good customer service too (unlike Admiral).
