I am looking for some tyres recommendations for my DC2. My last set of Bridgstones are getting a little baldy (not brilliant in this weather) and the RE010's have been discontinued. I can only find 1 RE010 in the country!! I need 4.

So what are you running and is it any good?

Yokohama AD08's seem to be quite popular and well rated. I'll be putting some on my ITR fairly soon.

Not had my DC2 long but it came with Toyo T1-R's which so far have had great grip in the dry and wet. Also performed very well on a track day in September.
I've just ordered two new Toyo's from camskill £29.50 each plus postage!
195/50 VR15's by the way.

Other tyres may well be better overall but at this price I thought it would be mad not to!

Can you get RE050s in the correct sizing?

Wow, that's an amazing price. From what I've read the Toyos have a softer sidewall than the original RE010's leading to reduced steering feel. Perhaps the reduced aspect (50 instead of the original 55) helps to overcome this?

I'm tempted to bung a set on mine, I run them on my TVR Cerbera and they are great on that. Do you have any comments on the steering feedback?

I had 195/50/15 Yokohama paradas on my DC2 and was very happy with the way they performed, they also has a softer tyre wall than the bridgestones but I never found it to be much of an issue.

A lot of people talk about them not being great in the wet but myself and 2 friends were using paradas on a very wet trip though the alps and never had a problem.

Re010's are like night and day to T1R's, the side walls are like jelly mate,
Re010's where designed for the type R. I run RE010's on my EK9 and I did have proxes 4's on my EK9 and I noticed a massive difference between the two, the side walls on Re010's are super stiff which the type R thrives on. I would go for the AD08's.

Basically I cant comment too much on comparison with other tyres on the DC2 as these are the only tyres I've had on it and they were fairly worn when I bought the car!
What I can say is that I agree with the comments on the slighty soft sidewalls although this doesnt affect turn in and cornering grip too much. I came from a bugeye STI which after a couple of sets of Goodyear Eagle F1's I fitted a set of reinforced Vredestein Ultracs Sessantras which I prefered and suited the car, for this reason I will be trying the RE010's next for a the extra sidewall strength and a full comparsion.

It depends on preference though and like I said with the Toyo's being £30 a corner and xmas coming up they provide a cheaper option without too much of a drop in quality/performance.

You'll be lucky Re010's are now discontinued, like I said this is the problem
when you've had a set of Re010's that were designed for the type R some other tyres just don't perform the same.

Bucensoreder that's that idea out the window! Have you used the Yokohama AD08's? How do they compare to the Re010's?

Got Yoko's on order. Should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully they will be as close to the RE010's as you can get now.

Cheers Guys.

AD08's have a very good rep in the dry but looking at the tread pattern they'll be a bit of a risk in standing water, so drive accordingly.

Let us know what they're like, too - thinking about ditching the current Hankooks (V12 Evo) as they're mediocre and getting a focused "summer tyre"...

No I haven't, but that what I'll be getting when my Re010's are knackered.

Ho do folks?

I currently have AD07s on mine so the AD08s should be as good or even better, can't fault them so far.

I have Hankook RS2's on my teg, but they dont come in 195/55 so went for 205/50. i think i am getting on for 10k on them now including a track day. Performed very well in the summer and on track, bit poor in the greasy cold weather we have now.

Im getting towards the end of their life, was either gonna go for these again or try the AD08's as people have said they seem very good.

Trouble is 205 sections are perhaps a bit wide for the std wheel, bit of tramlining and moving round on the sidewalls. I think the AD08s do come in 195/55 but they are a bit more pricey!

The side wall on my AD07s is very straight and quite stiff too (good for feedback);)

How do they perform in damp / greasy conditions? No worse than other premium road tyres? (Michelin Pilot Exalto / Continental Premium Contact 2 etc)

Unable to read your link cos I've not registered. smile

Cheers!

God no, don't fit Toyo T1Rs, they are awful budget chav tyres for the Max Power brigade.

The sidewall flex is terrible until you start getting into proper low profiles on 18" wheels.
