Hi guys I currently own a 3series BMW and to be honest have been pretty happy with it(until lately).I am looking to change it after xmas sometime and wanted a 5 series but they are a tad expensive and besides although I think BMWs are in general good cars Ive found my local dealers very expensive and a bit pushy.Ive also always fancied a honda accord(2003 onwards)I think they look fantastic and I hope maybe a little cheaper to run than my Beemer which as of late has cost me a fortune.Could anybody give some info on best models, sevicing costs(I like to stick to main dealers for servicing and repairs). My budget is £5000-£7000.Thanks.

I did 125,000 miles in a 2.4 Type S (2003 model). No problems with it other than the (Alpine made) CD player cocking up, which cost £100 to fix. Of all the cars I did big mileages in, including other Hondas, it was the most reliable of them all. As a company we also ran 3 Series', but they never lived up to their hype- especially in terms of reliability.

Honda are generally very reasonable for servicing. No idea on specifics, but should be cheaper than BMW.

I did about 25k miles in an '04 i-CTDi Exec and had no problems at all. Leather, toys, good economy, reasonably quick, decent handling, great build quality. I'd have another.

yes

To the OP - these are very good ownership propositions and you should be able to pick up a good example with your budget.

It would be worth doing some research to identify a decent independent specialist - standards vary at main dealers.
