Civic TypeR 2002; what engine oil and where from?
Discussion
All.
What oil is suggested\recommnded? Note handbook simply says 5w-30 or 5w-40 fully synth.
Just noticed the Shell Helix I've used is semi!!! Should have been Shell Ultra!
Read possible suggestions of Castrol Edge or Mobil 1?
Anyone experianced getting it reliably and cheaply? A quick Google shows some occasional cheap deals at Tesco, Asda and Costco. Looking at doing change with filter this weekend but don't want to drive around all day to said shops.
Cheers Neil

I hesitate to say it, but Kwik fit will usually do an oil and filter change with a top quality fully synth oil for less that you could buy 5 litres for.
Just make sure you're hanging around and they don't cock it up (how could they?) or use cheaper oil.
Failing that, Mobil 1, Silkolene (Pro S?), Castrol edge all fine in anything from 0w30 to 10w40
I had Mobil 1 in mine

I have been looking into this today, and found a wealth of information here:

+1 to Opie and their Silk/Fuchs ProS oils. I've been using them for a couple of years, prices are reasonable (every so often they do deals so I tend to stock up) and delivery is prompt. Can't fault them tbh.The DC2 guys swear by Pro-S.. mine seems more than happy on it.
Hi All.
Cheers for info.
Finally went with Mobil 1 0w/40 from Costco. Easily available for £28 - and in a 5ltr can as opposed to the majority of others who are on the con of 4ltr cans only (never enough for a full change)!
Couldn't bring myself to take the car to Kwik Fit I'm afraid.
Don't trackday the car, so sure M1 is more than adequate?
Cheers,
Neil
