Hi, im getting a range rover 4.0 for my 17th and I want to know how i can get insurance that would be less than 10000k a year!!

Okay il be real now,

Basically im at college first year! doing A levels biggrin turn 17 in November and was looking to see what type of first car I should get! I was thinking of a 1998-1999 Honda civic coupe 1.8 ltr! maybe insurance is reasonable? but most likely try and go on my dads insurance biggrin my question is, what car should I go for? how much would the average insurance be? (personal insurance quotes would be great smile also don't want it to be too expensive! max 4-5k! plus petrol costs my Ema should cover it which is around £120 a month but insurance my dad is willing to pay..

looking forward to your replies

Assuming this isn't a wind-up!

Going on your Dad's insurance is a no-no - known as 'fronting' - if you have an accident the insurance company won't pay up. A 1.8 litre car will be very expensive for you to insure. A 1.2 litre will cost enough.

Complete wind up, but in the spirit of things, I'd recommend the follwoing cars in no particular. All these are based on the detialed info provided in your OP to help narrow the field.

Ford Focus
Bugatti Veyron
Daewoo Matiz
Citroen Xsara
Auston Healey
Vauxhall Astra from 1983
Ferrari 599
Subaru Impreza Turbo
BMW 730d
Honda CRV
Audi A2 aka Jonny Cab

As for insurance, just go and get a traders policy like most smart arses do.

I believe Top Gear already covered this, so you'll be wanting to buy one of these.

Note the 18 year old range rover driver. I think this one was covered on a recent TV programme where the driver was interviewed and recognised he was driving too fast, and ovettook at an inopportune moment.

There are good reasons for NOT insuring young and inexperienced driver in high powered vehicles, this is pure folly !
