Am about to receive a company car, so looking to sell my lovely S type, as it's no longer required, but still need something to potter about in, when it is in appropriate to use the works car, and the wife's diesel fiesta is in use for trips to the shops / gym etc. Mentioned this to a little old bloke in the pub last week, who was selling one of his 2 Honda Accord coupe's. He has a blue on and this green one.

Took it for a run, smooth as silk, apart from the rev counter there isn't a clue that the 3.0 V6 motor is running at tickover. Auto box changes up and down fine, all the electrics work, and the climate is ice cold.

Apart from a little rip in the driver's seat, and the need for a good clean / polish (which it's now had) it needs nothing. Service history, and lots of receipts, and every MoT in the volumionous folder in the glove box. MoT'd till January, with great tyres (pirelli P6000s on 3 of the 4 corners).

Mine for the pricely sum of £1200. Luxury motoring seldom comes cheaper !

Fantastic deal there - work colleague has been running one of these things for years now. All he does 'extra' over & above normal servicing is a 6monthly oil / filter change - seems to keep the thing sweet as it never lets him down & is utter waftability. For £1200, a total bargain.

Just looking back through all of the receipts for servicing on this car, and I see that the cambelt was done at 76,000 miles, but 31/01/06, or 12,000 miles BUT 4 years ago.

Anyone got the TIME period for replacing the timing belt on the 3.0 V6 motor ?

Nice coupe - does that age of Accord have the tiptronic auto 'box? I've just got a '01 Accord Executive hatch for a runaround. Only a 2.0 and manual, but full leather, electric everything inside, a decent Bose system, and the hope that it will be more reliable than anything else for £1300!

No, just a standard 4 speed auto box. Weird spec though, climate and a tilt / slide electric roof, full leather, cruise, leccy windows, heated mirrors, all in all a nice car, and to date TOTALLY reliable, seldom used with 4 other cars in the household, but even when left at the airport for a couple of weeks while I'm away on a business trip, get in, flick the key, check the rev counter and off we go. Lovely.

Much nicer to drive than my S type Jaguar, which was a late (07) 2.7 twin turbo diesel. This has a much nicer ride, and is as entertaining to drive as the Jag was. The jag cost me £330/ month, so in the 4 months I have had this, it has already paid for itself ! It might not have the schmooze factor of the Jag, but I am certainly not embarrased to use it to turn up to a business meeting.

Just done a run down to the office and back, which is 165 miles each way. Brimmed it before I left, and came home (28 miles). Set off down to Biggleswade down the A1 and when I got there the tank was half full. A little bit of running around, to and from my hotel / Indian restaurant and by the time I set off back the next afternoon, the guage was visibly below half. Decided to try it out, and see if I could get back. I always seem to use more fuel coming howm, must be upholl back oop North, but by the time I passed Markham moor services the guage was still over a quarter, and no fuel light. This started to come on as I passed Blyth, but still decided to press on. Decided NOT to pay Doncaster Services prices, nor stop at Glews Garage at Goole, or nip into Howden. By this time the light was in full glow, and the gauge showing about an eight of a tank. Eased off from my 75mph cruise to 65 to eek it out a bit, and finaly came into West Cave Shell station with the gauge on "E". Brimmed it right back up, and squeezed 56 litres in, for 360 miles. 56 litres is 12.33 gallons, and 360 miles / 12.33 = 29.19 mpg. Not astounding, but for a 3.0V6 schmoze wagon, doing motorwary speeds with the A/C on heated leather seat etc. I find it acceptable. I charge my miles back to my employer at 40p/mile so 360*40p is £144.00 so the fuel costs are more than covered.

Oh, and despite brimming the tank, with 56 litres, the handbook reckons it;s a 65 litre tank, so despite the light and gauge of doom, there was still 9 litres (or 2 gallons) left in there, so could potentially have gone another 58 miles. Might make sure I have a can of unleaded with me before I try that one though !

All of my Hondas have either had very pessimistic fuel gauges or smaller-than-quoted fuel tanks, as my fuel light typically comes on with 2 gallons left.

MoT was due end of the month so put it in this morning, and it went straight through !

2 advisories, nearside headlamp patter faded (tester reckons a new bulb) and rear disks lightly corroded, after all the salt spray they have been sitting in since November, I'm not surprised !

Really pleased with this purchase, another year of free motoroing to come.

p.s. It has only done 2,800 in the last 12 months !

Just saw someone's £550 snotter thread, so thought I'd give this an unashamed bump.

Getting on for 2 years down the line, IVY, it says 3.0iV6 on the boot lid is still going strong. Boringly so, now showing 106,000 miles, and 2 more uneventful MoT's in the folder.

Discs were warped this year, so took advantage of Amazon (USA) and bought a pair of fronts for $46 each and got someone to ship them over for me, for free. Here they were someting like £250 a pair. Rears were cheap enough, and a full set of pads has cured the juddering. Other than that is has cost me zero.

Looks as good today as it did in the pictures, and did a round trip of 350 miles on Friday last week, and another of 550 miles over Sunday / Monday. It is SO reliable, it's irritating after the S type I had last.
Not the mose economical of beasties, got 27 on the run to Surrey and back, but it will still romp it's way up to 1.4 leptons, backed by the GPS on the screen.

I could not recommend one of these highly enough.
