Dear All,

Just sold my clio 172 and am thinking about getting a kit car or an s2000.

Just a quick question:

When does the cambelt have to be changed? Time span/miles?

All the best.

Pretty sure it's a self tensioning chain so won't need replacing, could be wrong mind.

Chains can and do stretch. IIRC it's checked and replaced (if required) on 100,000 service

Timing chain tensioner sometimes needs doing if it starts to rattle. some do after about 90k miles if i remember right, but the car is chain driven.

Chain cambelts so good more makers are going back to them now to reduce lifetime ownership costs.

Running belts quieter maybe but sod that always the worry has it been changed or not
