Just thought i'd ask the question. When driving at slower speeds I get a horrible creaking rattle from above my head. If you put your finger between the roof and roof bar it stops. Anyone else had this if so is there an easy fix (without driving round with my finger in the roof)

Thanks in advanced

Are you getting a lot of wind-noise at speed too? Could be one or both of the striker-plates have worn, and the roof isn't 'sealing' perfectly at the front.

Two fixes:-
Quick: Fit a rubber 'sleeve' over the shaft-section of the roof catch (where it's already rubber) to increase the diameter, which will 'pull' the roof a little tighter.

Proper: Replace the striker-plates. IIRC I read on s2ki that the ones designed for the hard-top cars were harder-wearing, but I'm not 100% sure they were actually different - doesn't sound right.

No its not the front of the roof. Its straight above my head and it stops when you put a tiny bit of pressure on it. very odd

scratchchin If it's the same sort creaking I had, it sounded like it was coming from the frame.

It tends to happen after I've had the roof down for some time and I sort it by closing the roof as normal, then if creaks, hand brake on one notch (I've done the mod), then push the switch forward again as if the close the roof just long enough to get the windows halfway down, close the windows and that seems to sort it.

This is all probably very well known to those with more experience than me but just might do the trick.

I remember I had the same problem on mine. I applied some Zymol Seal on all the rubber seals round the roof frame and it stopped. I also checked any screws as well - I seem to remember that there are some on the leading edge of the roof?

Autoglym Vinyl and rubber care could also be used.
