We have one sat out in the company carpark which was bought from new and will 4 years old in september, it hasn't missed a beat yet, not a single thing has gone wrong. It should of been replaced after 3 years but the person who has it loves it, so didn't bother getting it changed.

Better go and touch some wood now just in case.

The other half has run one for the last 3 years. Company car.

In those 3 years the car has taken an absolute beating, it is currently on 106k and has not missed a beat. Still feels great to drive, plenty of oomph and is a fantastic car to cover distance in comfort and at speed.

In our ownership the only thing to have gone wrong was the thermometer about 2 months ago. it kept displaying 40C when it clearly wasnt.

Now that prices are starting to come down I would be tempted myself should I be in the market for a diesel motorway hack.

Check out the boot as well, clever flooring pannel adds another 20%/25% space with a quick drop of the floor - unless you spec a spare wheel.

If you have any questions drop me a PM or ask away.
thanks for the info smile

the salesman showed me how the base of the boot folds down for a deeper luggage area..also liked how the rear seats lay flat and that you can also lift the base of the rear seats up vertical so the space behind the front seats is just bare carpet for carrying loads on

some very neat touches

Is that the exact car you are looking at bouying?

My guess is that it's an ex Honda UK car.

The 2.2 is a peach of an engine.

Have had mine for 15 months / 24k miles (was a ex-Honda demo, bought at 6 months old) and it's a 2.2 EX. Very happy with it - needed a cheap-to-run, comfortable, practical car but as I park on the street a lot in London I didn't want a huge long estate. EX spec has all the toys I wanted and the satnav's not bad at all.

Engine is pretty strong, about as refined as 4-cyl diesels get (which isn't saying that much, mind), don't expect the quoted mpg - I'm averaging 45 but that's with a fair bit of crawling along in traffic and faster motorway speeds. Have been as high as 52 over a tank, but that was a lot of steady motorway driving.

Gearbox is great, I find it comfortable and refined (I know some people moan about the "awful" rear suspension but it's way better than any other car I've owned), and it is ridiculously practical for it's size with that wide boot and flip-up seats. I scuba dive, friends have things like A4 Avants, but mine is the only one that will take 3 people, 6x 15l tanks plus all the kit we have - and it's all below the window line. For chucking bikes in the back I appreciate how easily the seats fold forward - one motion and a perfectly flat floor. Surprising how few hatches manage that.

Will be keeping it to 70k or so as I took out the fixed-price service plan (£800ish for 5 services, available on used Hondas via dealers as long as they're within 6 months old, as well as new) but realistically I hope to get at least 120k out of it.

Zero problems so far, which makes for quite a boring ownership report:

I can only echo the comments already on here, my other half has one and it is excellent.

She has done 37k in hers with zero problems, averaging 48mpg mostly long distance (will easily do 50mpg on motorway). I am very impressed with the space in this car, easily seats 4 and has the best boot in it's class.

Honda servicing can be pricy but they are one of the nicest dealerships I have dealt with, and we have been to 3 separate ones. If you are buying main dealer I would check out Holdcraft Honda in Stoke-on-Trent, it may be a little out of the way but they get Honda UK cars at lower prices than I saw in the South, I also got another 1k off mine.

We have a 2.2 CDTi deisel, bought new in 2006; still less than 20K miles. Currently averaging 48mpg but 50+ is routine on long motorway journeys if you stick to the limits; even at 100mph+ (in Germany)it returns 40 - 45 mpg.
Unlike the above posts this one has been recalled by Honda at least 3 times, for handbrake, windscreen and suspension work. Honda service is generally excellent (but see below).
The ride is firm/crashy on anything except French motorways but the handling is fine; we have a persistant clonking from somewhere in the suspension (started at about 5K miles) that Honda have failed to find and fix even though they have fitted new shocks at rear and a ball joint in the steering.
The speedo is hopelessly optimistic, although the mph/kph switch is nice.
It's quite difficult to park as the rear view is limited.
On wet roads it is overly noisy (seems to come from under the doors).
The lack of rear screen wash/wipe is irritating. The placement of the spoiler in the middle of the rear screen is plainly idiotic.
Engine/gearbox great. Would we buy another? No, but would consider an Accord.
