I thought its exactly the same but a seam welded chassis?
It looks no different to a stsndard car, just white wheels.
I thought that it had a different front and rear bumpers :S or maybe its just a sil under the front bumperIt looks no different to a stsndard car, just white wheels.
if it has the same panels then thats great cause all I need is the spoiler, wheels and badges. Then a respray

The body panels are the same, the grilles, lips and spoilers are different - both from the standard models, and pre and post facelift from each other.
Please don't sticker it up as a Type R though, will you?
Okay, thank you. Iv found a website that has all the grills and lips etc. I wont put stickers on it, just the red Honda badges I think then a respray in championship white will top it all off thanks for the helpPlease don't sticker it up as a Type R though, will you?
I am sure its the front grill, white wheels and rear wing thats different. I imported a black one a couple of years ago, the early 1997 shape. Of course the red Recaros, carbon plastic effect dash, titanium gearknow and the fact it revved to nearly 9000RPM are some subtle differences!
Ive also had a later shape Jordan and an Illusion 1.4 too (Mrs car!).

blimey, you like civics then aha
hopefully ill be able to get my own in a few years when my insurance premiums have dropped. Although by the time my premiums have dropped a good EK9 will probably cost an arm and a leg which did you prefer out of the type r and the jordan?
well the Type R was by far a better hot hatch. the Jordans handling was not its strong point, and it attracted cops being bright yellow, bloody thing got me 9 points!! Mine was presented to Eddy Jordan himself ( number P01)hopefully ill be able to get my own in a few years when my insurance premiums have dropped. I am old and lazy, so I soon got bored revving the arse off the Type R to get anywhere at decent pace.
Great when you want some fun though.
There is a jordan around where i live and you can see it(and hear it) from a mile off. I think its a good job im not getting the real deal then else my license wouldn't last too long, aha
Thanks for the specs the figures are quicker that that of most hot hatches today! let alone 10 years ago.
I was looking through your past cars and saw you used to own a charade GTti...i wanted one but they are almost impossible to find

Most have rusted away now, and you'll pay top dollar for a good one. I sold my old GTxx for over over £3k.WRT your civic, why not buy a VTi, then spend the cash you would have spent on buying and fitting the EK9 bits on insurance?

GTti were fantastic. My first was only a year old and was great, but I bought one a couple of years ago to re live my youth and it was nothing but trouble. Thanks for the specs the figures are quicker that that of most hot hatches today! let alone 10 years ago.

If you like them try a Starlet Glanza.
Another car I had which was fantastic was the older shape Civic SIR. I bought it for £9000 with 20k miles on. Imaculate in black with some HKS boxes under the bonnet, god knows what it was, but it was quicker than the EK9!! I wrote it off after 3 months. Put it on its roof!
Marf: the insurance would be way too much on a real EK9...plus petrol would probably start taking its toll on my pocket :/
Nottyash: I looked at a glanza but the insurance on those was sky high...i think my best bet is just sticking with the EK9 replica for now it will look superb and shouldn't damage my wallet too much A mate of mine has done a seat K1 replica and replicas seem to be the way forward for young drivers
Old Gregg: thanks i just searched for a ek9 front lip and got a number of good products looks like all i have to do now is find a good civic

I said buy a VTi and use the money you'd spend buying EK9 bits on the insurance, not buy not an EK9. Come to that, have you asked your insurance company how much your insurance will go up if you make your 1.4 an EK9 replica??

I dont get why you would want a 1.4 to look like a Type R? Wont that just be embarrassing having to explain that its not a real one?
Like Marf says, get a Vti with the money you would be using to turn the 1.4 into a replica. The money you will spend changing the appearance of the 1.4 could be saved buying a real VTi or Type R. Modifications push the insurance up quite a bit.

i would rather get this and then when i get a real one when my insurance has gone down. i would appreciate the performance more then
Seriously?? I know it's not what you want to hear but that's just throwing good money after bad IMO.Seems to me an EG6 VTi would prep you well for then upgrading to an EK9-R, which has an LSD, 25hp and a better chassis/suspension setup over the EG6.
