S2000 buying advice and poss mods?
Discussion
I am sure there are lists of buying advice about these cars somewhere, but is there anything in particulart to look for. Also are there any issues at higher mileages, and what age cars are best to go for.
I have read that it is adviseable to get the geo checked/set up....is the somewhere recommended for this, and are there any upgrades recommended for the suspension.
Are there any remaps or similar for the engine which improve efficiency aswell as give a bit more power....as is often the case for most engines.?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this info, but having read it I get the impression they are quite fragile...meaning there is lots that might go wrong, which is complete contrast to how I percieved the cars were or what various owners experienced?
Yep, don't buy one, they are the most unreliable car ever produced.....CTE said:

ive had 4, currently have a 2002 model, never had a problem with any of them and they get a real hard life in my handsCTE said:
swannynhb....looking at your past garage it looks as though you have had lots of experience with many different performance cars....how does the S2000 compare with them in terms of resonsive handlingness?....and what are they like on along run?
ive driven mine to manchester and back (from southampton) a few times and i have no problem with the comfort on a long journey, of course fuel ecomony isnt great at 90+mph, that coupled with the reletively low gear ratios and high revving engine doesn't give you the most relaxing drive ever but i like it. i find the handling a touch edgey when your really pushing it, but thats half the fun, and its very predictable (now the geo has been done) steering is sharp although lacks a bit of feel compared to cars like the elise. all in all a really underated sports car. ive had 4 of them, every time ive sold mine i buy something else (elise/boxster/evo) only to end up with another s2000 6 months later. Its a high performance car; go have a look at the 911 forum, or the GTR forum... Check out the issues there with those high performance cars.
I have to say the S2000 is amazing and very much a trouble free car!
I have owned one since April 2008. Only had one issue and it was a simple fix and cost less then £40. It was covered by warranty anyway. By the way I do drive my car hard and its been a beast for 2 years. I have a lot of faith in the car; less then i could say about other sports cars RS$, M3, 911, XKR... All have a string of issues!
I have written a review recently about my car on here.. have aread.

ive done over 80k in various s2000's and the only problem i have encountered is a timing chain tensioner failure, didn't cause any damage just a horrible noise on tickover when the car was warm.imported one from the states for £80 and spent 5 minutes fitting it.I have to say the S2000 is amazing and very much a trouble free car!
