Hi All,
I have owned my Integra Type R (DC02) from new. I bought it at Derek Warwick Southampton in 2000 and have loved every minute of it...
... up to about a week ago. It was due for a service but I thought I would let the wages clear at the and of the month and guess what ....
... yeah, the engine blew through lack of oil. My fault. Feel sad and stupid.
So that is the back ground.
My question is what now? Honda dealer reckons it needs another engine dropping in. That is the cost of an engine and the cost of them fitting it (I am not a mechanic) against the value of the car. I am thinking it might be easier just to sell it but will people buy it with a knackered engine?
Can't see any in the For Sale section to give me a guide on the price so any advice welcome.

I would scour the knackers yards (and DC2 Forum) for crashed cars with good engines and gearboxes.
When I killed mine in 2006 it had only 46,000 odd on the clock and the gearbox had just been fitted with new synchros by Honda. Whoever got the engine out of that got a good one.
I dread to think what the list on a new one is.

I was thinking of that but then given I have to pay someone to do the work, is it worth it?
By the time I have bought the engine, paid to get it fitted etc the cost will possibly be as high as the value.
I am thinking it might be better to shift it to someone who can do the work themselves to save costs but don't know how to value the car in its current state.

Speak to Tom at TGM Sports http://www.tgmsport.co.uk/ or Guy at CPL Racing
Also consider a K20 swap, hehehe

Lack of oil, it could be messy, have you taken the cambelt of and the rocker cover to have a general look, take the cam carriers of and see if the cams are seized. The whole engine has probably shat itself. You you might be lucky and the head might be ok, bottom end might just be bksed.
In that case you could get someone to drop the bottomend out, re bore and hone it, and put in EK9 high compression pistons in, replace rods, bearings etc.
Drop me a pm if you get stuck i can direct you to a few people in the know.
Cheers
Jay
