Im thinking of getting one as a daily driver. What are they like to live with? Insurance and economy seems alright and the power isnt too bad. Ive seen a few videos of turbo'd ones and this is something id definatley consider. Anything specific to look out for when buying one?

Which one? The 1990-93 Mk2, or the 93 onwards Del Sol?

The Mk2 is fine, although there are plenty of things to look out for on them and they're hard to find in good condition. The Del Sol is for women.

Rust.

The tinworm really seems to like CRXs.

Any specific areas or just rust in general?

Around the sunroof, front arches, rear arches, sills, corners of the doors.

Go over it with a fine tooth comb, take a magnet to spot pug!

Reading your description it shouldnt be that badly affected if at all, but worth checking nonetheless. A magnet will spot any dodginess. Just wrap it in a cloth or something so you don't risk damaging the guys paintwork when you check smile

It needs to have been properly 'driven' quite regularly to keep the VTEC solenoids in good health.

Look out for the radiator corroding (the exhaust manifold heatshield being rusty can be a good sign of this). The dizzy can be problematic on the B16. ABS sensors like going on holiday after a few years. The suspension bushes will need replacing. The boot struts may or may not work. The sunroof should be checked for rust and clear drainage holes. Front seats (particularly bolsters) can be destroyed by anyone over 11 stone.

If it's stood a lot and driven a little the tyres are probably tougher than granite and should be replaced, as should the fluids.

Check 2nd-3rd-4th gear changes at high revs for synchro wear, as this can happen from low miles onwards.

And did I mention rust? smile

Well went to look at it. Its done 55k with full service history (oil every 3k and filter every 6). Just had a full service including a cambelt, distributor and exhaust system. There is a small patch of rust in the corner of the sunroof (nothing major) but the seats are past their best. Started and stopped perfectly and vtec worked well as it should. I think im going to make an offer.
