Honda Accord 2004 - A/C Compressor Switching Off
Discussion
Hi,
Just bought a 2004 Honda Accord Sat Nav Executive (2.0L Petrol) and the A/C is not working.
Took it to a mates garage for a re-gas and he said that the compressor was starting up ok and then switching itself off? It took the re-gas ok without any leaks. He suggested going to Honda to get the fault properly diagnosed as could be electrical?
Does anyone know if this sounds like the compressor is faulty? Checked with Honda and a new compressor is £500....!
Have checked Honda used parts websites and have had quotes from £100 - £300 for used compressors.
Is it worth going for a secondhand compressor?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Mark

Just to update this. I took my Accord to Munich Motors in Wokingham, Berks. They specialise in German repairs (hence name) but they are A/C experts, according to those in the know. Better than risking Kwik Fit, I thought...
They checked the car over and it was the A/C relay switch which had gone. They took a switch out of a scrap Vauxhall they had and it's running like a dream, just in time for July & August. So hopefully I won't be sweating my balls off on the M4
Worth checking this out if you have an A/C fault. I nearly bought a new compressor for £400!
Thanks to Munich Motors, they were a friendly and helpful bunch.
